Dear Friends of Cristo Rey,

As Christmas approaches, we want to extend our warmest wishes to you and your family for a joyful holiday season filled with peace, connection, and hope.

Because of you, more than 430 young people are experiencing the transformative power of education and opportunity this year. They are preparing for college, building professional skills, and discovering just how far their dreams can take them. Your belief and support are making their dreams a reality.

As we close out the year, we invite you to join in the joy of giving that defines our community. If you've already made your year-end gift, thank you. If you're considering a contribution—one-time or recurring—please know that gifts received by December 31st support student scholarships through June, providing transformative education for ambitious students. Your gifts are especially meaningful as we navigate the rising costs of Silicon Valley. Many employers will also match your gift, doubling your impact.

However you choose to support our mission, please know that we are deeply grateful for your partnership.

With heartfelt thanks and Christmas blessings,

Silvia Scandar Mahan

Alumni Spotlight: A Full Circle Moment

"Cristo Rey didn't just give me an education. It gave me a chance to believe in myself. It helped me find my path, my purpose, and my community. And because of that, I now get to help others do the same."

- Angela Jaramillo

From Student to Mentor:

Angela Jaramillo '20

This Christmas season, Angela reflects on her Cristo Rey journey with deep appreciation. As a CRSJ student, she discovered her purpose through rigorous academics and the Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP). Today, Angela serves as a Project Engineer at CWSP partner Joseph J. Albanese, Inc., while also supervising and mentoring current students through the same transformative program that shaped her future.

Angela's full-circle moment embodies the transformative power of Cristo Rey education and reminds us why we do this work: to unlock potential, create pathways to opportunity, and develop leaders who give back to their communities.

Read more about Angela's story in this year's Christmas letter.

Thank you for making stories like Angela's possible.

Tax Advantaged Year-End Giving Reminders

Consider time-sensitive, year-end giving opportunities that will enable the dreams of students and families. Check with your tax advisor for specifics on your situation, but you might consider tax-advantaged, non-cash ways to give, whether it's appreciated stock from your Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) or a qualified charitable distribution from your IRA.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions on year-end giving by emailing us at advancement@cristoreysj.org. Although the school is closed from December 22nd through January 4th, Advancement staff will be available during the break and can be reached at 650-533-5421 (Celine Schmidek, cell phone) or 408-930-5172 (Margaret Caldwell, cell phone).

Note that if you mail a check, it must be dated and postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service on or before December 31, 2025, to qualify for a tax deduction this year. Please make your check out to Cristo Rey San José Jesuit High School and mail it to:
