FRIDAY FLASH

September 1, 2023

A Message from Headmaster Scott

Dear Archway Trivium Families,

Every year at about this time I send out a communication regarding traffic during drop-off and pick-up times. As hectic (and sometimes frustrating) as the process can be, it is one of my favorite times of the day. This is why. Of all the things that happen to make a school day successful, these are the only ones that have specific responsibilities for students, parents, faculty, and administration. Our community come together as one twice a day to perform a sort-of ritual. I love the unity demonstrated as we all do our part. Thank you for making this time as pleasant and effective as possible.

Here I would like to ask for some help in a particular area of need. School personnel do not have any authority on city streets. Granada (south of campus) is a private road, so we can direct traffic and intervene to improve safety in that space. However, we do not have authority on Bullard or Encanto. The intersection of these two roads has long been a precarious place for our scholars who walk or ride bikes to school. We finally have a no U-turn sign, and that has made a significant difference. Please help us make that space as safe as possible by being extra attentive to each other. Thank you for your partnership.

Heartily Devoted,

Clay Scott, Ed.D.

Headmaster, Archway Trivium

Student Pledge Leaders: Myra G., Peyton W., Laurel G., Colten G., Hannah R.

Academy Giving

Our academy flourishes because of parent philanthropy. Every gift to Community Investment and each Tax Credit designation supports a tuition-free private school caliber education in a public-school setting. For all donation inquiries, please contact Tina Swartz, our Regional Family Giving Manager Arizona, at tina.swartz@greathearts.org. We are currently taking applications for the role of a Family Giving and Community Engagement Officer. We highly encourage anyone with a desire to make a difference at the school to consider applying for this position.

Academic Calendar magnets to donors have gone home through the youngest scholars. The rest will go out next week, again through every family’s youngest scholar at Trivium. Thank you to Kim Penn Realty (Mr. & Mrs. Ossie Penn) and Benefit Air (Mr. & Mrs. Armando Vargas).

Join us to Cheer on the Trivium Prep Crimson Knights!

  • Friday, September 8 - Varsity Football, 7 PM

Late Pick-up Policy

We have been doing very well with our on-campus student pick-up and drop-off routines as of late. Every year, it takes a few weeks for us to settle into a routine so that the pickup runs smoothly. Now that pick-up times are running efficiently, we ask parents to ensure they arrive on time to pick up their students.

We will begin enforcing our Late Pick-up Policy on Tuesday, September 5. Please make sure you are arriving within 30 minutes of the end of school to pick up your scholar in order to avoid being charged a late pick-up fee. Parents arriving after this time will be required to sign out their child from the MPR and may be assessed a $2 per minute, per student late fee. All late pick-up fees will be added to your Configio account and are due upon receipt. For more information, please see page 46 of our Family Handbook.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday - You will be charged from 3:35pm

Wednesday - You will be charged from 1:55pm

Half days - You will be charged from 12:25pm (excludes Half Day Kinder)

Traffic Flow for Student Drop-off/Pick-up

Please carefully review the Archway Traffic Flow for Student Drop-off and Pick-up and reach out to the front office with any questions. Taking the time to understand these procedures will help to ensure the safety of our students/staff and a smooth traffic flow.

General Reminders:

  • Morning Drop-off is from 7:20-7:47 AM. Parents who wish to drop-off earlier must enroll in Early Drop-off Club.
  • Parents in the drop-off/pick-up zone must remain in their vehicle. Faculty will assist students exiting their vehicles, however, faculty are not allowed to assist students with car seats, so parents are highly encouraged to practice prior to the start of the year so that students are able to do that independently.
  • Please have your GREEN or ORANGE pick-up card clearly displayed on your dashboard during pick-up to help keep our process running smoothly. Pick-up cards will be handed out at Meet the Teacher in your oldest Archway child's classroom.
  • Due to limited parking, there will be NO walk-up option for student drop-off/pick-up at this time.
  • Parents with both Archway and Prep students: There is NO Archway drop-off/pick-up on the Prep side of campus. You must use the Archway Traffic Lanes to pick up your Archway/Prep students. Please review the pick-up procedure with your Trivium Prep students emphasizing the importance of arriving to the Archway Pick-up/Drop-off Zone promptly after school to be ready to load into your vehicle.
  • Parents picking up Archway and Middle School Students, DO NOT arrive to campus before 3:15 PM. You may not wait for your middle school student in the Archway Pick-up Line if arriving before this time.

Communication Updates

Latest News image.png

School Messenger Communication

Great Hearts and Archway Trivium continue to utilize the system School Messenger for emails, robo-calls, and text messaging to inform families of campus related academy emergencies and other communications. SchoolMessenger has a new automatic opt-in for text feature. During the registration/re-enrollment process families confirmed their wish to participate in text communications. Great Hearts will now automatically opt in contact information given during the registration/re-enrollment process with the options you selected. You will notice at the beginning of July you will be opted in for text messaging. If you would like to opt out of text messages simply reply STOP to the text from 67585. You can also enter the code 67585 with the message STOP to block any text messaging. Please note, if opting out, you will not receive texts regarding emergencies on campus.

Email Communications

If you know of parents who are not receiving these communications, please ask them to check their junk/promotions email folders, and then email bmcdonald@archwaytrivium.org for assistance.

You can also find ALL school-wide communications on our website on the Latest News page.
