YOUR GUIDE TO CITY-RELATED NEWS AND EVENTS | | Coffee with the Mayor: Saturday, June 6 | | |
Join Mayor Greg Bozzo for coffee and conversation as he discusses the Gilroy Blue Skies Initiative and the responsible use of fireworks.
The Gilroy Blue Skies Initiative will help to provide a guide for Gilroy’s long-term growth. Residents are encouraged to take the Gilroy Blue Skies Survey to provide their input on opportunities, priorities, and concerns as related to air quality, transportation choices, energy efficiency, community health, economic opportunity, and hazard response measures.
Additionally, Mayor Bozzo is highlighting the community's shared responsibility in helping eliminate the use of illegal fireworks. Making a real difference will require each of us to take responsibility and encourage our friends and neighbors to prioritize safety and look out for one another.
Coffee with the Mayor will take place on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 9:30 AM in Council Chambers, located at 7351 Rosanna Street.
To ensure everyone can participate, we are offering Spanish-language interpretation services for this meeting through Wordly.

| | Amazon Gilroy Data Center Open House | | |
Amazon Web Services (AWS) will be hosting an open house to share information and answer questions about the data center currently under construction on the southeast end of Arroyo Circle in Gilroy.
The project has completed the full environmental review under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and meets all CEQA standards. We know residents have raised questions about water use and air quality. Current analyses show that the City’s infrastructure, along with upgrades planned as part of the project, can support the data center’s needs.
To reduce reliance on potable water, Amazon is building new infrastructure to bring recycled water to the site, thereby nearly eliminating the site’s reliance on potable water.
Air quality has also been a topic of interest. Environmental analysis shows that the project’s estimated emissions fall below the Bay Area Air Quality Management District’s CEQA thresholds, meaning the project is not expected to create significant air‑quality impacts.
The upcoming open house is an opportunity to learn more about these topics, speak directly with project representatives, and get answers to your questions.

| | Santa Teresa Fire Station Staffing Report | | |
During the week of May 15, 2026, our firefighters staffed the Interim Santa Teresa Fire Station for six days.
We will staff the station as often as available personnel and responsible overtime practices allow.
When we have enough staffing, we will place the station in service with either:
- A Type 1 engine with three firefighters, or
- A Type 6 engine with two firefighters, depending on daily personnel availability.
On days when we do not have qualified personnel, we will leave the station unstaffed. This approach aligns with our winter-season operations.
We will continue to staff the station whenever heightened public safety concerns arise, including:
- State of emergency declarations
- Red Flag Warnings
- Fourth of July and surrounding weekends
- Potential flood conditions or other disasters
- Public events or gatherings where increased risk is identified
This weekly report is part of our ongoing commitment to transparency regarding the staffing status of the Santa Teresa Fire Station.
| | Students Celebrate Completion of Beyond Gilroy Program | | |
Congratulations to all the students who participated in this year’s “Beyond Gilroy: Nature, Exploration, and Empowerment” program. Through a state-funded grant, the City provided nearly two dozen middle school students with hands-on learning experiences focused on environmental conservation in the Monterey Bay region.
Participants took part in four field trips and six classroom sessions led by Save Our Shores (SOS), a Santa Cruz–based environmental education organization. These experiences helped students explore local ecosystems, develop stewardship skills, and deepen their understanding of our regional environment.
To celebrate the end of the program, students and their families were invited to a recognition ceremony honoring their accomplishments.
The City of Gilroy Recreation Division and Save Our Shores look forward to offering the program again next school year, and we are excited to welcome even more students to join us on this journey of learning and discovery.

| | | Ask Gilroy: Your City, Your Questions! | | |
Thank you to everyone who submitted questions!
We've provided answers to some of the questions below, and look forward to more questions this week.
❓Recently we have had several solicitors in our neighborhood that are not deterred by "no soliciting" signs. They are also TAPING things to our property causing damage. How can they be reported and/or cited for violating the associated municipal codes? Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Residents should be aware that both California law and the Gilroy Municipal Code regulate certain solicitation activities within the City. Solicitors are generally expected to comply with posted “No Soliciting” signs and may not damage private property, including taping or affixing materials to homes, fences, mailboxes, or other structures without permission.
If a solicitor refuses to leave after being asked, ignores clearly posted signage, trespasses onto private property, or causes property damage, residents are encouraged to contact the Gilroy Police Department’s non-emergency line to report the activity. Depending on the circumstances, violations may fall under trespassing, vandalism/property damage, nuisance, or municipal code enforcement provisions.
Residents are also encouraged to:
- Avoid engaging if they feel uncomfortable;
- Request identification or company information if appropriate;
- Document concerning activity when safe to do so; and
- Report repeat or aggressive solicitation behavior to the City.
The City continues to coordinate between departments to address quality-of-life concerns related to solicitation activity and appreciates residents reporting issues through the Gilroy Police Department's non-emergency line at 408-846-0350.
