Enhancing the lives of women and youth in our community

and around the world. Rise and Shine with us!

So much is going on in our club and our community!

President Lisa and Karen Houser opened our very special Scholarship Awards morning. We were so excited to see all of the student recipients, their families and friends gather for this amazing celebration of hard work and great accomplishments.

We welcomed Past President of SITS, Shari Young to today's meeting. We love it when previous members stop in and visit.

Invocation by our Lydia included a quote from Michael Angelo, "The greatest danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark." This morning was a celebration of individuals who grew to believe in themselves and continue to set the bar high for their futures.

Sunshine continues in full force for our Warrior Wendy. Each day brings with it more improvement. We continue to send you our prayers and high spirits. We also want to thank you for your leadership in our YES (Youth Enrichment & Scholarship) Committee. Karen remarked that you may have small feet but they were big shoes to fill for today's celebration!

We'd also like to send our condolences to one of our Scholarship Recipients, Kayla Rea Cano who could not join us today. We are so impressed with your accomplishments and are so proud of your heart.

We have the most amazing Club Sponsors which help to carry our organizations efforts all year long! We also have mindful business people who sponsor our events and we'd like to acknowledge them with great gratitude! Thank you to Palisade Investments for being today's Event Sponsor!

We'd also like to welcome and thank BMO as a Club Sponsor. Thank you for enhancing the lives of women and youth in our community and around the world. We are so thrilled you are partnering with us and we appreciate Bank Manager Hellen Barclay for her team leadership in our community.

Today was a very special day, true to the hearts and hard work of our club. It was our Scholarship and Awards Program which highlights the hard work of our youth.

Our club provides academic scholarships to graduating seniors from each of our High Schools: South Tahoe High School, George Whittell High School and Mt. Tallac High School, and to Lake Tahoe Community College.

A committee evaluates the many applications. Criteria for the evaluations include: financial needs, academics,

employment, extra curricular activities, letters of recommendation, the effort the student has made in life to be the person they have become as evidenced by the essay they submit. We also acknowledge the hard work and efforts by those individuals who have worked hard to positively change the trajectory of their lives.

This year's recipients are so deserving of this moment and of the $17,600.00 in monetary awards, SITS was able to provide. All of this was made possible because of our generous sponsors, business community, and all the community members who participate in our annual fundraising. Below are this year's scholarship and awards winners!

Thank you to the YES Committee for all of their hard work, to the club members who set up and cleaned up our event location, to those who cooked and all who rooted our students on. That includes the student's school leadership and most of all their families. Thank you for making this morning so very special.

It's been a week of familiar faces and voices for our members!

A special SHOUT OUT to two of our past members who recently caught up with each other, Shirley Barr and Carol Taylor. Wishing you ladies all of our best always! Shari Young joined us at today's celebration, and our recently relocated Julie Nelson spoke with Kim and guess what? Julie got a new puppy! All is well.
