TOP 10 '90s SALSA HITS
(PART 2)
This week we bring you more hits from those glory days when Salsa Romántica reigned the clubs of Miami and Cuban Timba was spread its wings across the world. We couldn't omit hits like “Idilio", Gilberto Santa Rosa's “ Perdoname”, or Frankie Ruiz and Oscar D'Leon. And of course, we had to bring you up to the late '90s when Marc Anthony hit the scene like a meteorite with his 1997 album “Contra La Corriente” and phenomenal India with "Nunca Voy A Olvidarte.”

INTERVIEW: AMARO FREITAS
From the slums of Recife in Brazil’s North-East to international jazz icon, AmaroFreitas has earned the music world’s attention for “an approach to the keyboard so unique that it’s startling” (Downbeat).
The culture of Pernambuco naturally overflows in his style as he translates frevo, baião, maracatu, ciranda or maxixe into the language of jazz. His first two critically acclaimed albums, ‘Sangue Negro’ (2016) and ‘Rasif’ (2018), established this 27-year-old as one of the greatest revelations of Brazilian Jazz in recent years.

LATIN LONDONER #41
SONIA BERNARDO
Sonia is a British-Portuguese singer/songwriter that has been pricking ears with her powerful soulful voice, tinged with a Fado weep, mixed with Bossa-Nova simplicity and jazzy embellishments. Bernardo caught the attention of Phil Manzanera (Roxy Music) who saw her play in a bar and invited her to record and then go on to tour with him to Japan.

CHEO FELICIANO
Cheo Feliciano improvised some of the best "soneos" ever recorded and a minute after doing so could sing the most difficult boleros without breaking a sweat. We could do 50 of his songs that rock the dance floor but today we pay tribute to this master with 10 of his most played songs!

PLAYLIST
When it comes to #salsa greatness very few people are on the same level as Cheo Feliciano. He can only be compared with the very best salsa singers and no better proof of his quality was the fact that he delivered hits in the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's and was still active when he died in a tragic car crash just 6 years ago.

THE FEVER
Directed by Brazilian Maya Darin. this multi-award winning film has a haunting, dreamy quality. We are immediately immersed in the quiet, alienated world of the protagonist, who is surrounded by an environment dominated by containers, night sounds of the jungle and mysterious unexplained fevers that take people down. Christian religious masses take place in open houses and unusual predatory attacks in the night on pigs and dogs, prompting vigilante groups to wander about with machetes.
