Meet our Team - Dena Miguel, Director of Access Medical
|
|
Meet our Director of Access Medical,
Dena Miguel
.
Over eight years ago, Dena Miguel took a leap of faith and joined the Access to Healthcare family having little experience in healthcare. Today, she is incredibly proud to be the director of the
Access Medical
program; a program that provides discounted healthcare rates to uninsured and underinsured populations in the greater Nevada region.
“Being able to provide discounted rates to our underinsured populations in our community is truly an amazing feeling,” Miguel said. “Healthcare is absolutely a human right so I will work tirelessly to help all individuals get the access to healthcare that they deserve.”
Currently, Dena and her staff are working to provide services to members during this uncertain time. Dena is working to ensure safety and resources for her providers and her members.
“My staff is doing an incredible job communicating with members and providers to provide the support and resources that we can,” Miguel said. “This is one of those times where I am so thankful for the strong relationships we have with our providers and community partners.”
As this organization grows, Dena’s knowledge and passion does as well. She stays dedicated to AHN because of the lifelong relationships she built with staff and members.
“I love coming to work every day and knowing that I work with people who have the same drive as I do and I get to go home every day knowing that I made a difference in our community,” Miguel said.

Medicaid providers at the end of the line for
federal COVID funding
|
Casa de Salud, a
not-for-profit
clinic in Albuquerque, New Mexico, provides primary medical care, opioid addiction services and non-Western therapies, including acupuncture and reiki, to a largely low-income population.
And, like so many other health care providers that serve as a safety net, its revenue—and its future—are threatened by the COVID-19 epidemic.
"I've been working for the past six weeks to figure out how to keep the doors open," said the clinic's executive director, Dr. Anjali Taneja. "We've seen probably an 80% drop in patient care, which has completely impacted our bottom line."
