A Note from our Executive Director
When I was growing up, the first day of school was always exciting. We wore new clothes, got to meet our new teacher, and wondered who would be our new friends. The beginning of the school year is a time of potential and renewal, for children and for adults.
At LEAP, the transition to a new school year is in full swing. On Friday, August 18, we honored our four year olds who are being promoted to Kindergarten or TK. Then teachers had a single to change up their classrooms for their incoming students. On Tuesday, children and their caregivers were invited for an orientation to meet their new teacher, learn about our school, and visit their new classroom. Wednesday marked the official first day of school. We welcomed new babies and sophisticated three year olds. We comforted children and parents who were feeling separation anxiety.
Like our students, I am excited to see what the new school year holds in store for us.

Let's dance!
“The dance and movement doesn’t require equipment, buying instruments, or building a stage. It’s so accessible. I am excited to work with LEAP and their teachers because of the big impact they have and work they are doing.” said Rosalina Macisco, Founder of Santa Barbara Dance Institute.
Dance isn’t just fun, research shows that is helps improve memory, language, attention, and emotional regulation. That’s why LEAP has partnered with the SBDI since 2021 to bring movement and dance activities to the Children’s Center.
This year, we are excited to incorporate even more dance through SBDI’s professional development program for our teachers. Rosalina will provide training for teaching movement that our educators can integrate into their curriculums. Click here to read the full story!

Preschool Promotion
This month, we gathered to celebrate the Preschool Promotion of our Lions, Butterflies, and Sea Lions classes at our Children’s Center! We are so excited for them to go off to their next big adventure - kindergarten! Congratulations to our students and families on this accomplishment.
At our Children’s Center, we nurture children ages 0-5 through our high-quality and trauma-informed early childhood care and education programs. We provide a loving, joyful, and developmentally appropriate educational environment that ensures our students are prepared for kindergarten and beyond.

Bingo at Old Town Coffee
Thank you to Old Town Coffee and Gameseeker for hosting two unforgettable BINGO fundraising nights that benefited our mission! Together we raised over $2,000 for LEAP! In addition, many attendees brought diapers and wipes to donate to our Diaper Bank.
