From The Pastor's Desk:
LIVING A
RESURRECTED LIFE
1Peter 1:3 "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy he has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead."
I hope your Lenten journey was blessed as we explored the ways we find joy in following our Lord Jesus to the cross, and to his resurrected life - which we share in our baptism. Easter, our high holy day in the Christian faith, has come…and not really gone. Every Sunday worship is considered an Easter worship, and we consider ourselves to be Easter people. We live in the hope of the resurrection, and experience the power of that hope daily as we love and serve the world.
Easter. When you check Scripture you will not find the word anywhere. It’s a word that points to springtime, which the ancient church took on to remind us that as we see the reawakening of nature and new life everywhere, so also we find our faith renewed and filled with new life in Christ. The word resurrection, however, is found 65 times in the New Testament. An important event! My favorite is the quote above from Peter, a witness to the resurrection of Jesus - and to the living hope we have in Christ. Just look at the words! Great mercy. New birth. Living hope! This is the promise of Easter, the gift of our baptism, our hope for the future always. These things we possess as an everlasting inheritance from our Heavenly Father - and we are called to pass the gift on. Faith.
As we look ahead to Pentecost, we will do exactly that in many ways. Like a handful of scheduled baptisms upcoming. First Holy Communion is just around the corner, teaching children about the means of grace, and fulfilling baptismal promises. Confirmation is upcoming as well, as young people embrace faith as their own, and take up for themselves their baptismal vows.
These, and many more, are signs of life in the church! The Body Of Christ with a new birth and a living hope - and yes, living a resurrected life!
May God’s richest blessings be yours!

Holy Humor Service Weekend
Saturday, April 6th, At 5:00 PM
And
Sunday, April 7th, At 9:30 AM
Many American churches observe an old Easter custom begun by the early Greek Christians which is called, "Bright Sunday" or "Holy Humor Sunday." These special celebrations are on the Sunday after Easter. For centuries in all Christian faith traditions, the week following Easter Sunday was observed by the faithful as "days of joy and laughter" with parties and picnics to celebrate Jesus' resurrection. Lord Of Life will be a part of this tradition this coming weekend. Join us at one of our special church services on either Saturday, April 6th or Sunday, April 7th.

“Bible Characters Come Alive”
Study Begins Wednesday, April 10th
10:00 AM At Church
A Message From David Dugan, Bible Study Leader:
Inspired by Pastor Carl Joecks’ popular monologues, (I vividly remember his story about Pilate!), this series features original compositions designed to help bring Bible characters alive. The story of Jesus concentrates on his being everyone’s favorite dinner guest. The story of Solomon has him in a court room hearing where, as judge, he uses his great wisdom to resolve a child custody dispute. The story of Naomi becomes a bed-time session where Mary interacts with young Jesus (who would rather hear about David and Goliath!). Each story begins with a relevant passage of Scripture and is followed by some thought-provoking discussion questions.
Come join Pastor Barry and me on Wednesdays at 10:00 AM at the church beginning Wednesday, April 10th.
Some Additional Information:
The study will include six sessions on consecutive Wednesdays at 10:00 AM at Lord of Life beginning April 10th. There will not be any ZOOM sessions. At each session, attendees will be given copies of that week's story (or stories) with discussion questions. Here are the topics, with the Bible reading references so that you can read the passages in advance:
April 10th:
Naomi - Ruth 1:1-22, 4:13-21
Mary - Luke 1:26-55, Job 2:11-13
April 17th:
Solomon - I Kings 3:16-28
Judas - Matthew 27:1-10
April 24th:
Jesus - Luke 14:1-24
May 1st:
Mary Magdalene - John 20:1-18
May 8th:
The Rich Young Man - Mark 10:17-31
Hagar - Genesis 16:1-15
May 15th:
Joseph (New Testiment) - Matthew 1:18-25, 2:13-23
Barnabas - Acts 9:23-30 and Romans 12:3-8

Do Lutherans Make The Sign Of The Cross?
An increasing number of Lutherans trace the sign of the cross over their bodies from forehead to lower chest, then from shoulder to shoulder and back to the heart; and others trace a small cross on their foreheads. Making the sign of the cross is a remembrance of Baptism.
The sign of the cross is used by the Orthodox, Roman Catholics, Lutherans, and Episcopalians, and is slowly increasing in use among mainline Protestants. It is also a remembrance of the death and resurrection of our Lord: the center of our faith. The sign of the cross is a treasured part of our heritage as Lutherans, because the practice was encouraged and used by Martin Luther himself. Luther made provisions for using the sign of the cross on at least three occasions.
- Holy Baptism
- Ordination
- Daily Prayer
The sign of the cross may be made at specific times during worship. The use of the word “may” is very intentional, as such a gesture is made freely and never by compulsion.
- Baptism
- Confession and Forgiveness
- Benediction (Blessing)
- Holy Communion
- Gospel
- Nicene Creed

Update From Haiti
A Message From Penny Miller
I continue to stay in touch with Libertin, the school administrator. He reports that when the students come to class, they are happy and do well. We still have 12 students who attend every week. He has reported to me that the students need sewing notions: items like needles, thimbles, seam rippers, small scissors, thread, etc. If you would like to help provide these items, please bring them to the church. Place your donation in a bag with my name on it, bring it to the church kitchen, and deposit it into the box labeled "Penny Miller - Haiti Sewing Notions." We will be shipping things to Haiti soon.
The people of Haiti are warm and loving. They want to live in peace and provide for their families. Please keep them in your prayers.
Yours in Christ,
Penny Miller

Recycling Update
All households in Burlington County recently received a publication in the mail titled "Burlington County Recycling Guide." It contains the latest information about the do's and don't of what to put into your curbside recycling container, how to dispose of hazardous household materials, and other interesting and useful information.

LifeLines Delivery Issue In March:
When the March 1st LifeLines issue was sent out, the Editor received a report that 10 subscribers, who should have received this issue, did not due to a "bad" email address. The Editor checked if their email addresses were correct, and they were. The March issue was then resent to those 10 subscribers. It looks like the resend worked since no further error report was received.

Easter Greetings From The NJ Synod Bishop
Dear Friends,
“But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him, just as he told you.” Mark 16:7
These words are part of what we will hear on Easter Sunday, spoken by a young man, wearing a white robe, and sitting on the right side in an empty tomb. They are spoken to Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome as they come to tend to the dead body of their friend and teacher. These are not the only words spoken to those disciples that first morning, but they are words of a promise that continue to illustrate our life of faith in the risen Christ.
According to Mark, on that first Easter morning Jesus wasn’t waiting at the empty tomb, he was going on ahead. We hear a similar promise in John’s gospel when Jesus tells the disciples that he goes to prepare a place for them. We read that promise at many funerals.
What does it mean for us that Jesus goes on ahead? It means there is nowhere we can go where Jesus has not already been. There is nothing we can experience that Christ hasn’t already experienced. There is no circumstance in our lives beyond God’s understanding. This most certainly is good news!
As we prepare for Easter Sunday, hear the words spoken to you by a mysterious stranger in the tomb – Christ is going ahead of you, just as he promised. Because that’s true, we can face whatever happens today and tomorrow and the days after that.
Happy Easter, dear friends.
Bishop Tracie L. Bartholomew

The link to this month's ending song was discoved by Rick Krause. It was performed by members of the Association Of Lutheran Church Musicians. Many musical instruments are played by members; there are handbells, and a full chorus of singers. What better way to rejoice at Easter with hearing this beloved, traditional hymn. Enjoy!
