Vernon Township Food Pantry in Need of Cereal

The Vernon Township Food Pantry needs your help to keep an everyday breakfast staple on its shelves. There is a critically low supply of cereal boxes, and the Pantry serves more than 400 community members each month - so every donation will make a difference. Cereal and other non-perishable food items can be donated at the Township Office, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Donations can also be placed in the outdoor donation cart any time of the day. Learn more about the Township Food Pantry here.

Save the Date for the Township Blood Drive

Mark your calendar and help save lives! Vernon Township, in partnership with State Representative Daniel Didech and the American Red Cross, will host its next Community Blood Drive on Thursday, November 19, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Community Service Building. With blood donations often declining during the holiday season, every donation is especially important. In the U.S., someone needs blood or platelets approximately every two seconds. Make an appointment here and help support local patients in need.

Property Tax Appeal Deadline is October 26

If you believe your property assessment should be reviewed, there is still time to file an appeal with the Lake County Board of Review. Appeals must be submitted through the SmartFile E-Filing Portal by Monday, October 26. Before filing, click here to view a list of comparable properties and save the information as a PDF to include with your appeal as supporting evidence. The Vernon Township Assessor’s Office offers step-by-step instructions to help property owners navigate the appeal process. For additional information, click here.
