September 2026 Newsletter
As we welcome the cooler temperature of fall, our work keeps heating up!
We’re looking ahead to our October 9 webinar Understanding Gynecologic Peritoneal Metastases: Why Specialized Care Matters, bringing together experts to discuss gynecologic cancers, multidisciplinary care, and the importance of knowing when to seek specialized expertise. We’re also highlighting the Alliance’s patient navigation services, which help patients and caregivers connect with resources, specialists, and guidance as they navigate complex treatment decisions. You’ll also find our new resource on surgical procedures, designed to make peritoneal procedures and terminology easier to understand.
And there’s still time to support the Alliance while having a little fun—this is your last chance to purchase tickets for our Helicopter Ball Drop! And while we’re looking forward to our 17th Annual Golf Outing, if you missed your chance to tee off with us, there are still ways to support the Alliance. These events bring our community together while raising critical funds to support patient programs, education, awareness, and research.
And in case you missed it: Our 2025 Impact Report is available! Take a look back at a year of growth, connection, and progress—and see how your support helped us expand education, navigation, awareness, and resources for the abdominal cancers community.
This month, we continue to build on what makes the Alliance community so important—connecting patients and families with trusted information, meaningful support, and the resources they need to navigate their care with confidence. Whether through education, navigation, awareness, or simply being there for one another, every connection helps strengthen our shared mission.

It explains common surgical terms, what organs or tissues may be removed, and what patients might expect after surgery—including potential changes to digestion, nutrition, hormones, fertility, and daily life. | Continuing Bevacizumab Around PIPAC: What an Early Safety Study Found
A single-center study examined whether bevacizumab could continue during treatment with pressurized intraperitoneal aerosol chemotherapy (PIPAC). Among 202 PIPAC procedures in 111 patients, 30-day complications occurred after 5.1% of procedures with bevacizumab and 9.6% without-a difference that was not statistically significant. No deaths, bleeding, perforations, or delayed wound healing occurred.

A U.S. phase I trial evaluated PIPAC with cisplatin and doxorubicin in 15 women with heavily pretreated recurrent ovarian cancer and peritoneal metastases. The procedure was feasible and generally well tolerated, with no dose-limiting toxicities or grade 4-5 events. Some patients showed disease control inside the abdomen, but progression-free survival was limited.
