Dr. Rob Carpenter once said, “Excellent Habits Have More Of An IMPACT On Your Personal Success Than Genius!"
Happy New Year!
Earlier this morning, I delivered my first keynote presentation of 2020 at a professional development conference for professionals within higher education in Northern California.
As I was preparing for this dynamic presentation that revolved around change, leadership, and resilience, one of the key questions that I asked my audience earlier this morning was,
“Do Your Daily Habits Align with the New Vision that you have Set for Yourself in 2020?”
The reason why I decided to include this question as one of the five questions that I addressed during my keynote presentation is because I have found that our resilience, effectiveness as a leader, and ability to navigate seasons of change are directly connected to the habits that we create for ourselves on a daily basis.
In effect, according various experts that speak about creating the right habits for success, not only is 40% of our behavior connected to the habits that we have created for ourselves, but these experts assert that you cannot change, evolve, grow, or reach your fullest potential without the right habits.
Consequently, as a growth mindset type of person, I have found this statement to be one hundred percent accurate because there are a variety of goals that I have not been able to attain in life until I implemented the right habits that aligned with the vision that I set for myself.
Personally, this is why I believe Brian Tracy
(Best-Selling Author and Successful Speaker)
states,
“Successful people are simply people with successful habits”
and Aristotle suggests that,
“Good habits formed at youth make all the difference”
because they understand the power of creating and implementing good habits.
In these first couple of weeks of 2020, not only do I encourage you to paint a positive picture of what you desire to attain or become over the next twelve months, but take the time to consider the types of habits you must possess in order to make this positive picture of your future a reality.
