Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year

Q. Phil, these inverter drives, and inverter driven pumps are expensive. Are they worth it?

The short answer is yes.

However, and there is always a caveat, if the pump, inverter, and system are not correctly selected, applied, and optimised then you will probably not accrue all the benefits that these technologies can provide.

Considering each element, new pumps have no wear and are therefore at the peak of their efficiency. 

New IE5 electric motors are greatly more efficient than earlier specifications.

Inverters, when correctly applied can save you a great deal of energy and therefore money and CO2 output.

Together when optimised, power consumptions can be reduced by an average across all pumps of 50 % and I have seen cases where savings in power have been 90%.

Given the high prices of power, it is easy to see that your return on investment can be in months and usually less than 3 years.
