Windows 11 Announced
The other week, Microsoft announced Windows 11 was now available as a preview. While we do not recommend anyone make a move to the new program at this time and risk losing access to programs that may not yet support it, it may be a good idea to begin planning what to do with your IT network.
How Will This Affect Me?
While Microsoft had announced back in 2015 that Windows 10 would have a 10-year lifespan, the announcement of Windows 11 would seem to solidify that as would the recent announcement of an October 2021 end of life date.
Now, it is not time to panic yet as there are still a few years between now and then and there is always a chance that things may change, but it is something to keep in mind and plan for in the future as new computers or versions of programs may be needed (though there is not enough information on Windows 11 at this time to make any sort of sure statement).
For the time being, users should just be aware that Windows 11 may be available in the updates center and should avoid completing this update to avoid any potential issues that have yet to be worked out. Users should also avoid this update until they are sure that it is compatible with their software. Those involved in planning budgets will want to monitor the situation as more information becomes available, as well.
