Groundhog Day: More Winter to Come!!

Based on the overwhelming majority of trained professionals, there is a long winter ahead. Do not fear, there is still lots of time to get your membership and enjoy all that winter has to offer for this extended season. Predictions:

Wiarton Willie has predicted an early spring after he did not see his shadow on Sunday morning on Groundhog Day. (He doesn't know what he us talking about though)

His inaccurate prediction doesn't match those of other weather-prognosticating animals:

  • Shubenacadie Sam who lives at the Shubenacadie Wildlife Park in Nova Scotia saw his shadow, predicting six more weeks of winter.
  • Lucy the Lobster in Barrington, N.S., saw her shadow and predicted six more weeks of winter.
  • Fred la marmotte in Quebec predicted six more weeks of winter.
  • Punxsutawney Phil in Pennsylvania also predicted six more weeks of winter.

Supporting Our Young Skiers:

Thank You, Canadian Ski Patrol!

This is Great!!

Each year, members of our dedicated Ski Patrol volunteer their time through the Christmas season for Operation Red Nose, helping to keep our community safe during the holidays. In recognition of their service, they receive a portion of the proceeds to donate to organizations of their choice.

We are thrilled to once again be a recipient of their generosity, with funds supporting our Skills Development and School Ski programs. These contributions will help us purchase much-needed supplies and enhance the experience for our young skiers.

A HUGE thank you to our Canadian Ski Patrol for their ongoing support and commitment to both our club and our community!

New Snowmaking Legacy Sign – Acknowledging Our Supporters

Keep an eye out for our newly installed Snowmaking Legacy Sign, recognizing the generous support from the Government of BC, Northern Development Initiative Trust (NDIT), and the Rickbeil Family. Their contributions have played a vital role in improving our club’s snowmaking capabilities, ensuring better conditions for all our members. This was especially important during the 2023-24 season where Caledonia Nordic was one of the only clubs in BC skiing. We are truly grateful for their support in enhancing our trails and facilities for generations to come!

Big thanks to Kevin Pettersen for getting the sign up and looking awesome
