“Transformation as a UU Value”

Rev. Jill Braithwaite

The new Article 2 names Transformation as one of six core values that Unitarian Universalists live out, centered in love. How does valuing Transformation figure into our faith communities and our lives?

Today, we are hosts to the Lake Country Unitarian Universalist Church and the United Unitarian Universalist Congregation.

Children and youth are invited to go directly to the lower level for our summer Hands-On Nature program. The Nursery will open at 9:45 am.

Help Build Community

as an RE Teacher!

We’re looking for volunteer teachers in the K-8 Religious Education (RE) program for the 2025-2026 church year. It’s a great way to be part of a team and to build the multigenerational community at UUCW. And, it’s probably much easier than you think!

'25-26 RE Registration Now Open!

While "Hands-on Nature" will continue through Labor Day, regular Sunday morning Religious Education (RE) for children and youth at UUCW will resume on Sept 14.

Stop by the Community Room this Sunday and talk to Dave about RE!

The coming year’s program will focus on UU Values and Sources, with a focus on the wisdom found in other religious traditions of the world. Registering your child/ren now helps us prepare for a strong start and ensures that you will receive the latest RE information.

Shoe Collection Fundraiser!

The UUCW Stewardship Team is launching a new, environmentally friendly fundraiser this October. We’ll be collecting new and gently worn shoes to support families in developing countries. These shoes help create job opportunities by supplying over 4,000 micro-entrepreneurs in the global reuse economy—offering a hand up, not a handout.

You can start by setting aside your nearly new or gently worn shoes at home for now. Details about how this fundraiser works, including the collection process, will be shared soon.

UUCW Grounds now is a

National Wildlife Federation (NWF) Certified Habitat

UUCW is now officially recognized as a National Wildlife Federation (NWF) Certified Wildlife Habitat! With help from Earth Ministry, YRUU youth, and church leaders, our grounds were reviewed and found to support essential resources. This certification supports Brookfield’s goal of becoming a NWF Community Wildlife Habitat.

Visit the Earth Ministry table to learn how you can create a wildlife-friendly space at home and join this growing conservation effort.

Join us for the next set

of UUCW Orientation Sessions.

Newcomers and long-time visitors are invited to join Jill Braithwaite, Dave Cicero, and Membership Team members for a

Lost and Found Clean-Out

Did you know that UUCW has a lost and found area? It is located in the main level coat rack and it looks like it has been adding up for some time.

Please take a look to see if any of these items belong to you. All unclaimed items will be donated to a local charity after Sunday, August 31. Contact Vicki Banville if you have any questions.

LIVING OUR VALUES

Share Your Concerns

with Your Representatives

Congressional recess is a powerful time to speak up! Contact your representatives, attend local town halls, and join UUSJ’s letter-writing campaign.

Now’s the moment to raise your voice for voting rights, humane immigration policies, library protections, and bold climate action—all grounded in our UU values.

Let Congress know what matters to you and your community.

Healing Over Harm

August 23 from 11 am - 12 pm

Governor's Mansion

99 Cambridge Rd, Madison, WI 53704

Individuals, families, faith leaders, and community advocates will gather for a Day of Action outside the Governor's Mansion to demand real change.

We are calling on Governor Evers and state officials to close the inhumane prisons and to invest in life-affirming alternatives like treatment, diversion, and mental health care.

Join us as we raise our voices for justice, dignity, and safety for all.

LEARNING AND FELLOWSHIP

In Memory

UUCW member Ellen Newbauer passed away on June 26th. Her generous spirit touched many lives in our church community. Her husband, Don, continues to welcome cards of support at Oak Hill Terrace, 1805 Kensington Dr, Waukesha, WI 53188.

A visitation and memorial service were held last Saturday in Germantown. Attendees brought back memorial cards that can be used as bookmarks.

This Sunday, please take a card from the display in the church foyer to remember Ellen.

Eudaimonia, a rich concept beyond happiness, translates among other things as 'good soul/spirit, higher values/principles, supreme good'. This is the path that peer caregivers travel in their roles.

The Peer Caregivers Support Group meets regularly on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays. The next meeting will be on August 12th at 1 pm in UL5.

Mary Ross and Susan Swearingen are available via caregivers@uucw.org with information for caregivers about our group.

CommUUnity Connections

provides a helping hand to support members of the church community

in times of need.

Lynn Anderson is ready

to assist you in August.

The Wednesday Night Book Group

The Book Group will discuss A Great Country, by Shilpi Somaya Gowda, on August 13 at 7:00 pm. The 2024 award-winning story follows an Indian-American family's attempt to assimilate and the challenges they face to protect their child when social class, privilege, and injustice threaten their American Dream.

All are welcome to join the discussion, even if you haven't finished the book.

Contact Patti Ulwelling for the Zoom link.

The Men's Breakfast Group will meet on Tuesday, August 12th at 8 am at Panera Bread, 2095 N Calhoun Rd., Brookfield (second Tuesday of the month). The group also meets online on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 8 am.

For more information, contact Jerry Kashmerick.

“Welcome to Camp UU”

Rev. Jim Coakley

Our UU Congregations are known as places to meet wonderful people on unique spiritual journeys. It’s as if we meet at camp each week to try hiking different spiritual and ethical paths together. Allow me to unpack one of my favorite metaphors for explaining who we are.

Please note the start time of 10:30 am. Or view the online service at youtube.com/@uuucwaukesha

Carpool to the Service!
