St. Thomas' Green Mountain Pentecost Eucharist
& Parish Picnic
THIS SUNDAY, May 19th!
St. Thomas will worship again on top of Green Mountain on Pentecost Sunday, May 19th! It will be a great way to kick off summer and to gather the entire parish family together for worship and a parish picnic! This will be our ONE MORNING SERVICE on Pentecost Sunday and is in the pavilion at the Nature Center on top of Green Mountain. The pavilion is easily accessible to all, and, with the beauty of nature all around us, we will celebrate with the music of a Jazz Eucharist arranged by our own Kathy Heim.
St. Thomas is providing fried chicken, coleslaw, rolls, Pentecost cupcakes and ice water for the Parish Picnic immediately following the Holy Eucharist. We need extra sides and we ask that, if you're able, please bring a favorite picnic side dish to share with your family and a few others. And don't forget to bring your favorite beverages. See the article below for suggested picnic offerings to bring and share!
Be sure to wear something RED to celebrate the day and dress comfortably! There are a large number of picnic tables available at which to sit and eat, but we always recommend bringing a camp chair (and bug spray) especially for the Holy Eucharist.
A shuttle bus from the St Thomas parking lot to the Green Mountain Nature Reserve will be available this year starting at 9:30. Please know that, unfortunately, the St. Thomas bus cannot transport electric or motorized wheelchairs. Call Irene in the church office at (256) 880-0247 by 3pm, TOMORROW, Friday, May 17th, if you plan to catch a ride from the church.
Again, we will only offer the 10:30 AM Holy Eucharist in the morning on Green Mountain, but we will also offer the "Laid Back" Holy Eucharist at 5pm that Pentecost afternoon in the Church.
Make sure you have THIS SUNDAY, May 19th, Pentecost Sunday, on your calendar, for our annual Mountain Top Worship Service & Parish Picnic! SEE YOU THERE!

Bring a Dish to share to Green Mountain for this year's Parish Picnic!
Want to help "spruce up" our Parish Picnic following the Pentecost Eucharist on Green Mountain this Sunday? Well, if so, here are a is what our Fellowship Committee is suggesting to bring as a favorite picnic side dish to share (enough for your family and a few others!): potato salad, macaroni salad, tossed salad, broccoli slaw, deviled eggs, sliced watermelon, fruit salad, fresh strawberries, sliced tomatoes or cucumbers, etc. If you have something to bring, we will find a place on the table! And if not, no problem! We will have food for everyone. Thanks and see you on the mountain this Pentecost Sunday!

This Past Sunday's Children and Youth Formation, Year End Celebration
Hiers Hall Sunday School Celebration
On Sunday, May 12, St. Thomas' elementary and middle school students celebrated a successful year of Sunday School in Hiers Hall. The students each received attendance pins, and the two students with highest attendance in each class received Handel's Ice Cream gift cards. Congratulations to our Godly Play students Jillian Casey and Benjamin Casey, Love First students Emma Bestor and Tierney Knickelbein, Thou Art students Penelope Reid and Archer Morrison, and My Faith/My Life Students Brylie Colvin and Luke Carrier!
We also decorated rainbow, butterfly, and fish cookies and played Bible trivia. The students shared their favorite parts of our classes and what they have learned about God, Jesus, and the Bible. A big thank you to our 2023-2024 Sunday School teachers who have taken their time to share their works and wisdom with our youngest
parishioners-- Renee' Redfield (Godly Play, Pre-K through 1st grade), Kathie Clayton and Lila Powell (Thou Art, 4th and 5th grade), Sonya Carrier and Jane Allgood
(6th through 8th graders). See below for more photos from this past Sunday.
No nursery or Sunday School on Sunday, May 19. Join us up on Green Mountain for our annual outdoor Pentecost service at 10:30am
Save the date for Vacation Bible School-- July 15-19!
Contact our Children's Ministry Coordinator, Laura Beth Bestor, at children@stthomashuntsville.org if you have questions or would like to help out with this important aspect of our ministries.
