New Year with Bright Beginnings!

January is a perfect time to celebrate fresh starts and new possibilities. Every small step you take—whether it’s attending a class, asking a question, learning something new, or simply taking a moment to care for yourself—is a meaningful part of your journey. These small steps add up, building confidence, skills, and a sense of accomplishment that can make a big difference for you and your baby.

This month, let’s focus on the excitement of all the opportunities ahead. Each day is a chance to learn, grow, and feel more prepared for the adventure of pregnancy and parenting. Little wins--like reading a helpful tip, practicing a new skill, or simply showing up—deserve to be celebrated.

You don’t need to have everything figured out to make progress. Just keep moving forward. Enjoy the journey. Take time and give attention to the moments along the way. The Center and your new SMPC friends provide support and encouragement and celebrate you with every step you take.

You can be optimistic and confident about the New Year ahead--you've taken steps to care for yourself and your tiny one. Joy awaits you in 2026!

News & Updates

Small Goals, Big Progress

A New Year inspires goal setting so let's think about realistic and attainable ones. Setting small, simple steps can lead to big progress, especially during pregnancy and early parenting.

Here are some ideas for setting achievable goals this month:

Health & Wellness: Drink more water, take a short walk each day, or try a gentle stretch routine. Small habits can boost your energy and overall well-being.

Learning & Preparation: Attend a class at the Center, read an article on newborn care, or practice a skill like swaddling or safe sleep. Every little bit helps you feel confident and ready.

Self-Care & Rest: Schedule a few quiet moments each week to relax, breathe, or do something you enjoy. Caring for yourself is just as important as caring for your baby.

Connection & Support: Reach out to a friend, family member, or SMPC staff member when you need encouragement. Building your support network strengthens both you and your baby.

Remember, goals don’t have to be huge or complicated—celebrate each small step as a win. By taking little actions consistently, you’re laying a foundation for success, confidence, and joy throughout your pregnancy and beyond.

Earn While You Learn (EWYL): A Strong Start for the Year Ahead

A bright beginning happens gradually--it grows through learning, support, and encouragement.

Earn While You Learn (EWYL) is a parenthood and wellness education opportunity for you. The program helps you to build confidence and rewards you for participating. Each lesson completed helps you move forward at a pace that works for you.

EWYL is a great way to start the New Year because it allows you to:

  • Learn one topic at a time
  • Build confidence as a parent
  • Celebrate progress, not perfection
  • Earn points for baby and maternity items

Lessons cover topics such as pregnancy health, labor and delivery, infant care and safety, feeding and bonding, and parenting through the first year. Whether this is your first baby or not, there’s always something new to learn.

As you complete lessons, you earn points to use in the Baby Boutique, helping you prepare for your baby with the items you need most.

Getting started is easy—ask a client advocate about EWYL at your next visit, or call SMPC at 941-330-2273.

Your bright beginning can start today—one lesson at a time.

Tell Your Friends

Sharing Is Caring!

“This past year, SMPC made such a difference in my life. I didn’t know where to start and didn’t have health insurance, but they helped me find a doctor. Now I have an established OB-GYN, and it took so much stress off of me.”

 — Kelly, SMPC Client

There is no better referral than a referral from a friend. Know a friend who is expecting? Share SMPC with them. The Center’s cost-free services are open to all expectant mothers.

A Word of Hope

A Word of Encouragement

Grace for the New Year

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

 — Lamentations 3:23

No matter where you find yourself today, you don’t have to have all the answers. God’s faithfulness meets you right where you are, offering grace for today—not all at once, but morning by morning. Just as new life grows one day at a time, so does strength, confidence, and hope.
