Ursula Goodenough and Sara Rutledge after monitoring nesting birds on Martha's Vineyard, summer 2024 |
Dear friends,
In early February, near Charles Darwin's birthday, many liberal churches join in the observance of Religion and Science Sunday. We celebrate the ways our spiritual practice is informed and inspired by the natural and social sciences.
Put another way, we read Mary Oliver poems and go for walks.
In our service, I'll draw from a dear friend who is a scientist, a novelist with a sense of wonder, an old scriptural admonition, and conversations with many of you.
With aloha,
Jeremy

The youth are in need of a snack!
The youth are hungry for both knowledge and snacks! While they are upstairs learning and having good conversations, they work up quite the appetite. We need donations of shelf-stable teen-friendly snacks, such as granola bars, individual bags of cookies, crackers or fruit snacks, shelf-stable juice boxes or bottles, etc.
Drop them at the church office, or bring them on Sunday and hand them off to Sassy Maynard or Miles Jones. Questions? Email Sassy at sassy@circularchurch.org

There is excitement and energy in the choir this year! If you have ever wanted to check out the Circular Choir, now is the time to join us. The choir rehearses at 9:30 each Sunday (there are no weekday rehearsals!), and we sing for the 11:00 services.
All levels of musicianship are welcomed - we have singers who don't read music, as well as professional musicians. With Debbie Devore as our Interim Choir Director, we are learning and singing music from a wide range of traditions and genres, and having fun doing it!
Come join us on a Sunday morning and experience the "choir family."

SAVE THE DATE: March 7-9
Circular Spring Camping
Hunting Island State Park
Join us for our Spring camping trip to Hunting Island State Park March 7-9. This state park, located south of Charleston, near Beaufort, is a new camping spot for Circular and will be an adventure for all. Feel free to arrive at any time during the weekend for overnight camping or just come for a Day Trip and enjoy the beauty Hunting Island has to offer. Registration to begin mid-February. Click here to learn more about the park: https://southcarolinaparks.com/hunting-island
We will have the primitive campsites for our tent campers - there is no fee for primitive camping this trip. If you're an RV camper and would like to join us, there are still some RV slots available in the park - reserve soon as these tend to fill up. You can reserve an RV site at: https://reserve.southcarolinaparks.com/hunting-island/camping/
No experience required! Are you a camping guru or never been but interested in learning how to camp? All are welcome - overnighters and day trippers! Church camping trips are an excellent way to camp with seasoned campers who can show you the ropes (and some neat tricks we've learned along the way). Meet others from Circular or just spend some fun times with church friends.

Circular's Ethic of Care
It is our hope that these practices will keep our community safe, healthy, and well.
- staying home and tuning in via YouTube if we are sick or symptomatic
- masking if we have recently been sick or are unsure
- attending to the needs of others who may mask or need space
- greeting each other with smiles, bows, and fist bumps
Circular has added high quality filters, deionizers and ultraviolet lights to reduce airborne microbes for the health of all who enter here.
Our senior pastor is immunocompromised and sits on the dais apart from others following his doctors’ advice. After service, he greets people in masks in the sanctuary or unmasked outdoors.
