Call to Action: CSBG Funding Delays

Despite Congress approving FY2026 Community Service Block Grant (CSBG) funding in February, the Community Action Network is still waiting for funds to be released, which has put critical services at risk. CSBG is core operating funding, and delays in releasing authorized funding create uncertainty around staffing, budgeting, and the continuity of programs that families rely on every day. To avoid service disruptions, we urge our members to raise their voices and ask Members of Congress to push for the immediate release of appropriated CSBG funds. >>> LEARN MORE

The workshop will use the “24:7 Dad A.M.” handbook developed by the National Fatherhood Initiative, an evidence-based curriculum used by organizations nationwide to help fathers become more engaged and effective parents.

Program leaders say the goal is to address the barriers many men face so they can focus on building strong relationships with their children. >>> READ ARTICLE

Mayor Richard Henderson has officially proclaimed April 4–10, 2026, as the “Week of the Young Child” in the Village of Waverly. This observance, part of a national effort to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families, underscores the critical role that early childhood programs play in securing the future of Pike County.

The proclamation serves as a call to action for the community to recognize that the period from birth to age five is the most formative time for a child’s development. In Pike County, the Early Childhood Program at the Community Action Committee (CAC) stands at the forefront of this mission, providing essential services that ensure children are not only ready for kindergarten but are equipped for a lifetime of success. >>> READ ARTICLE
