As a child, nothing can make you feel more loved, more secure and more confident than to have parents who are strong in their faith, strong in their love for their spouse and children and strong in their understanding of their role and mission as parents.
Without a doubt, both parents are important to the family’s health and stability but for unique and separate reasons. In God’s plan, fathers are the head of the family. They provide faith leadership, economic stability, protection, strength, advice and guidance. Now does that mean that families without fathers will fail?
Certainly not, some of the greatest men grew up without fathers. But in a family with only one parent the challenge for the mom is so much greater and the possibility of family crisis more likely.
As many of us know from experience, fathers are not perfect. They bring their own upbringing, their own traumatic experiences, their own problems into the family unit. In other words, they are just human, like all of us. But, hopefully your father did the best job he could do given the challenges we face each day.
Its Father’s Day weekend and if you are lucky enough to have your father or father-figure still with you, spend time with them, have meaningful conversations, hug them and most especially thank them and pray for them.
Happy Father’s Day
