Musician-in-Residence
Monique Mead
October 17-21

We are thrilled to announce that that violinist and educator Monique Mead will be joining us for a week of melodious inspiration as our Musician-in-Residence. From October 17-21, Monique will work with public school students of all ages at Orcas and Lopez Island Public Schools. She will also work with local private violin instructors and their students.

At 3:00pm on Tuesday, Oct. 18, musical ensembles are invited to a personalized coaching session in the Orcas Island Christian School Chapel, where Monique will work with each group on all aspects of their performance and presentation.

On the evening of Thursday, October 19 at 7:00pm, Monique will enlighten listeners on "Getting Your Groove Back". This talk, presented at the Orcas Island Library, is for anyone of any age who may have put down their instrument because of the pandemic (or any other reason) and needs a little encouragement and inspiration to pick it back up again. By the end of the evening you will be eager to get playing once more!

And during her week here, you never know when Monique will be popping up around Eastsound with Random Acts of Music!

All events during Monique's visit are offered free of charge, thanks to a generous grant from The Peach Foundation.

For more information on any of the events open to the public, please visit our website or write to mary@oicmf.org. We are so excited to have Monique back on the island, making it a more musical place for all of us!

It all happens over 5 wonderful performances during one week - Nov. 7-13. You can learn more and get your tickets here.
25th Season Highlights!
Over the next few Scherzos, we look forward to sharing some of the many highlights from our 25th Season, August 4-20, 2022.

We'll begin with this dynamic performance by Sempre Sisters from our opening Main Stage Concert: A Night at the Opera, August 6. We know you will enjoy Charlotte Marckx, violin, and Olivia Marckx, cello, with their virtuosic take on "Largo al Factorum" from The Barber of Seville.

You can read the program notes from this work in our season program, available here.
We look forward to sharing more OICMF news and events with you — keep your eyes peeled for next month's Scherzo!
