BREAKTHROUGH
TO THE GREATEST LOVE OF ALL
What husband wouldn’t absolutely love being the center of attention in his home; To have his wife doting over him, caring for him and having a readiness to meet his every need. She is not distracted, but attentive and filled with a sense of joy over his presence always. How it would absolutely melt his heart to hear her say to whomever is on the other end of the phone when he walks through the door, “I’m going to get off the phone now my husband just walked in the door. I need to see to him.” What man wouldn’t love coming home daily to an atmosphere deliberately created by his beloved of peace and joy in the presence of a woman with whom he could totally share his heart, his innermost thoughts, and feelings. And what if he could be totally transparent with her and still be supported and unjudged? What if he knew she deeply appreciated his labor for her and their family, and that she valued his leadership and direction and showed it by submitting to his headship and reciprocating his love in as many ways as possible?
And what wife wouldn’t absolutely thrive with a husband who was willing to lay down his very life for her; one who would sacrifice anything for her happiness. What if he made her needs his top priority, and he worked tirelessly to support her and their family as well as her dreams and goals? What if he nourished and cherished her and she understood that none could ever match her in his eyes? What if she knew that she could share her most intimate thoughts including her fears and insecurities and he would not love her less, but more. What if she could be completely vulnerable and communicate freely without any possibility of being misunderstood, judged, or taken advantage of?
The truth is everyone us of longs for that kind of intimacy. We all desire to be loved like that. We want to know and be known that deeply. We want to have a best friend who totally gets us, accepts us, and loves us. We all want a relationship where we would never have to second guess their commitment, love, or loyalty.
These ideals require enormous sacrifice, a daily giving up of self to the other, but that’s exactly the picture of marriage that the bible paints which symbolizes the mystery of Christ’s relationship to his church. In the same way that Christ is the center of His church, and the church is to seek and submit to His will and please him, the Bible says the wife is to please her husband and put him first. And by the same token the husband is to sacrifice for his wife, literally lay down his life for her, cause her to stand out from all others and love her as his own body, nourishing and cherishing her as Christ does the church.

I once attended the funeral of a young woman in her 30’s. Her father expressed how he regretted that she died before she could ever marry. At her funeral the eulogist said, “But where do you think she has gone? She forfeited marriage on earth to go with the greatest husband there will ever be. Where she is she will never know what it is to be hurt, neglected, or ignored or abused by a man. She will never experience being with a man who won’t half work or who refuses to meet her needs.” The audience went wild because they knew the preacher was describing the man Jesus, the only true lover of her soul.

The Bible says that In heaven there will be no marriage. None of the reasons for marriage will be needed in a perfect place like Heaven. We won’t need the symbolic because we will have the real thing. We will be with Jesus. The joy we will have there, even the best marriage on earth could not match.
As much as earthly marriage is supposed to symbolize the Lord’s relationship with His church the truth is most marriages have yet to reach that ideal. In a fallen world the sin of selfishness, arrogance, pride, self-centeredness, and greed obstruct the beauty of an ideal marriage. But God wants you, whether married or single, to have a relationship with him that no other relationship here could ever match. God wants a sincere, genuine, relationship with you devoid of pride, arrogance, and fear. He wants honesty and transparency from you.

There will never be a time he is not concerned about your needs. He knows all about you, your past, your secrets, and your sins and loved you enough to die for you anyway. That’s real love. He delights in you because he created you. There’s nothing more that he wants than a close relationship with you. He wants you to turn to him before you turn to anything else. It’s what he’s always wanted. That’s why he left his mighty throne in glory, took on flesh to dwell on earth so that he could connect with you, save you from the wrath of God, be your superhero. That’s also why when he left earth he said, Don’t be troubled. I’m going away to prepare a place for you that where I am you will be also. And He didn’t leave you comfortless but sent back the sweet Holy Ghost to abide with you FOREVER. (St. John 14:1-4,16). The Bible says that the Holy Ghost is his down payment (his earnest money- Ephesians 1:14), or his promise ring that he is coming back for you. Numbers 23:19 says, God is not a man, that he should lie…hath he not said and shall he not do?” He will come back for you and take you to a place where nothing else can ever compare.
Are you taking time to pray three times a day for just 5 minutes or as close as you can come to it? Are you creating an atmosphere that makes Jesus feel welcome? Jesus waits to talk with you daily. He is so delighted about just 5 minutes of your time that he waits with excitement and anticipation. He wants to hear your voice. Don’t neglect him. Make him the center of your life. Give him space in your home. Be vulnerable, transparent, honest. Give him your undivided attention even If just for five minutes. Let him talk to you through his word daily. He wants to speak to you. As you learn to do this it will bless all your other relationships. The secrets you learn as you submit to Him for these 28 days will spill over into every relationship you have and make it better. God has BREAK-THROUGH in store for you in your relationships, but none will outdo the one he wants to create with you. Give him 5 minutes now. He’s calling you. Let me let you go so you can answer.
