Crackdown on Hidden Fees When Booking Hotels and Buying Tickets Hits in Time for Summer | | | | |

As Truist Securities wrote, "Overall U.S. RevPAR was +4.1% y/y for the week ending 5/3/2025, per STR/CoStar, above the prior week's result of +3.2% y/y and above the trailing 10-week average of +0.8% y/y. Last week's results were impacted by the lapping of Passover 2024 in the early work week (strong y/y results, especially Group) and likely some events that avoided the week after Easter 2025. We expect more normalized trends in May. Chain scale results continued to show sizable bifurcation with Luxury again leading and lower priced hotels relatively underperforming. What was not encouraging across all chain scales: negative y/y RevPAR on Saturday perhaps reflecting a leisure slowdown. Upscale RevPAR: +3.8% y/y; Upper Midscale RevPAR: +1.4% y/y."
