Twenty years.
When we first opened our doors, we started out simple. One room. One Reformer. One Cadillac. One Wunda Chair. One Spine Corrector. One group class. One of everything. And even one teacher. Paul and I were newly married. No kids. Then as our family grew. So did our KÔR family. We had a team of instructors and as we added our second daughter (of 3), we added our second room at KÔR. A dedicated space for group classes.
KÔR continued to grow. And along the way I had some incredible mentors and teachers, whom I still carry pieces of with me as I teach and as I guide other instructors embarking on their own journey . And after 20 years, I know something to be true...You never finish learning. I'm a lifer for this thing called Pilates. We all are.
Twenty years in, here we are still discovering. But even beyond that, it was, and always has been about people. About helping people become more fully who they were meant to be in this world. And Pilates has been a really great delivery system for that. I have seen people change before my very eyes. I have seen me change.
Many of you came to KÔR because you wanted to get stronger or to move without pain. Or needed more flexibility. Or just need a good workout. Or maybe you want to do a deep dive and learn more. Or simply do life better. Heal. Breathe. Be. Whatever it was that brought you through our doors, it has been our honor to walk alongside you through all the reasons and seasons. Illness. Injuries. Surgeries. Births. Change. Loss. Aging. Healing. New beginnings. Life happens in the midst of Pilates. And underneath all of it, there's a common thread. Connection.
To your body. To yourself. To the people around you.
Maybe that's why, after 20 years, it has never felt like just Pilates. Joseph Pilates called it Return to Life. And perhaps, that is exactly what we've been doing all these years. Returning to life. Returning to YOU, the person you were created to be. And, in a way, returning to us. All of us.
When I look back at 20 years of KÔR, I don't really see classes and sessions. I see you.
ALL OF YOU ARE THE HEART OF KÔR.
To our clients, past and present, thank you.
To our instructors, past and present, thank you.
To everyone who has encouraged us, referred someone to us, or walked through our doors, you are part of our story.
What an utter blessing to have been invited in.
To have been trusted to be part of your lives.
Thank you for showing up. Thank you for 20 years.
With so much gratitude,
Rebecca (and Paul too! )
