How Curious returns September 24th | |
KGOU's signature podcast How Curious, hosted and produced by Rachel Hopkin, returns next week. How Curious is dedicated to exploring Oklahoma legends, tall tales, and oddities; people and places; past and present. Our first episode covers a milestone psychological experiment that was conducted at Robber’s Cave some 70 years ago and which has since been compared with Lord of the Flies. Upcoming episodes explore the creepy process of bone collection and how barite and sand coalesce into a uniquely Oklahoma geological phenomenon.
The Robbers Cave Experiment episode will be broadcast on air and available in your podcast feed on Tuesday, September 24th. From then on, look out for new episodes of How Curious the last Tuesday of each month.

The Bone Picker: Native Stories, Alternate Histories
| |
The frightening bone picker is just one of many entities, scary and mysterious, who lurk behind every page of this spine-tingling collection of Native fiction, written by award-winning Choctaw author Devon A. Mihesuah. Choctaw lore features a large pantheon of deities. These beings created the first people, taught them how to hunt, and warned them of impending danger. Their stories are not meant simply to entertain: each entity has a purpose in its behavior and a lesson to share—to those who take heed.
The edition of the KGOU Readers Club airs on Monday, September 30, with an encore presentation Sunday, October 7.
