Child Care Chronicles

TEXAS Edition

Hi Texas child care providers! 👋💛

Welcome to your weekly ChildCareEd newsletter—made for busy days and big hearts. We’ll keep it short, friendly, and useful so you can skim fast and get right back to the kids (and your coffee 😅).

🚨 New Class Alert!

Assessment of Language and Literacy Skills

This training course equips child care providers with essential knowledge and practical skills to assess language and literacy development in early childhood. Participants will learn the importance of early assessment, how to conduct objective observations, and how to translate this information into meaningful learning goals, particularly for children aged four and above. .

Fun Corner: Giggles + Good Vibes

What’s in the Fun Corner? 🎉

Texas “Would You Rather?” (for circle time):

Would you rather…

see a real armadillo 🦔 (okay, close enough 😄) or a real roadrunner 🐦?

have a picnic 🧺 or a dance party 💃?

2-minute brain break:

“Freeze Dance Feelings” 🎶

Play music → kids dance → pause music → call out an emotion (“proud,” “brave,” “calm”) → kids make that face.

Big Feelings Helper (Quick Script) 💛

Try this 60-second reset between transitions:

Name it: “I’m feeling ___.” (tired / overwhelmed / stressed / distracted)

Breathe: In for 4… hold 2… out for 6. (Do 3 rounds.)

Pick one tiny next step: “My next step is ___.” (refill cups / greet parents / set out centers)

Tiny boundary script (when you’re stretched thin):

“I want to give this my full attention. Can I follow up with you after nap / at pickup?”

You’ve got this. And we’ve got you. 💛
