Sharing Our Space: Faith Land Initiative

Sunday, April 6, 10:30 a.m. and 12:15 a.m. in Emerson

Join members of UUC's Faith Land Initiative team this Sunday in Emerson after either service to learn more and share your thoughts. 

 

The team will provide an overview of the Faith Land Initiative and status of UUC’s cohort. They plan to gather input on: 


- Values to prioritize

- Hopes for sharing our space 

- Concerns about sharing our space

- Areas of interest

- Helpful associations

 

Additional meetings at church and via Zoom are planned for later this month.

Federal Funding Peer Support

First and Third Sundays (including this Sunday, April 6) 12:30–2 p.m. in the King room and via Zoom

The last two months have been difficult for people who work for the federal government, conduct research funded through the National Institutes of Health, and/or manage or work in programs that receive federal funding to provide critical services to people in our community—all roles that, because of our UU values, embody a calling held by so many in our UUC community. Now, after prolonged periods of fear, many are losing their jobs, their funding, their colleagues, and their ability to support their teams and the communities they serve—or are on the precipice of such losses. And those still employed in these roles are experiencing profound levels of upheaval, confusion and uncertainty as the federal structures that once supported their work are gutted, and for many, suddenly no longer exist. UUC seeks a full-time Congregational Engagement Coordinator, to works closely with the incoming Associate Minister, Community Engagement, and collaboratively with other staff and lay leaders to support a caring, inclusive and spiritually meaningful church experience for UUC members, friends, and visitors. This position requires at least 2 years of experience in volunteer coordination, program management, marketing, stewardship or office administration in a church or other service organization. Dialogue Group: What is Truth?

All are welcome to drop in and join us as we discuss one of life’s big questions: What is truth? Is there a truth? Is there one truth or are there many truths? Is truth revealed? How useful are ancient sources of truth? Is beauty truth? How does objectivity relate to truth?

Rex Hohlbein: Homelessness and an Invitation To Come Closer

Wednesday, April 16, 7-8 p.m. in the UUC chapel

On April 16 Rex Hohlbein, founder of Facing Homelessness, will speak in the UUC chapel about being in relationship with and giving a voice to those experiencing homelessness. Each of us can take our own small and meaningful steps to end homelessness in our city. TOMORROW, Saturday, April 5, 1:30–4:30 p.m. in the Knatvold room

Let’s get together and play some games! Folks ages 18–35 are welcome to drop in and join Joplin Vaughn, May Killorin, and other young adults for fun and fellowship. Bring your own games or play ours. The UUC Care Team serves people in the UUC community when they encounter illness, grief, medical events, and other life issues. We all need a little help sometimes. If you find yourself needing a listening ear or a little help, please email the Care Team or leave a message on our confidential voicemail at (206) 454-7722. We are trained lay volunteers. We check for messages twice daily and keep your information confidential.

Celebration of the Life of The Rev. Patrick O'Neill

Saturday, April 12, 2:00 p.m. at UUC and via livestream

The Rev. Dr. Patrick O'Neill. Patrick was UUC's first ministerial intern in 1977, and then ordained at UUC in 1979. He went on to serve well and faithfully as a parish minister in several UU churches. In recent years, Patrick, along with wife, Patricia Williams, became UUC members after retiring and returning to Seattle. [Continue reading]

Current health safety protocols at UUC: Facemasks are optional but welcomed, especially while singing. For the well-being of everyone in our community, please STAY HOME if you have cold or flu-like symptoms, even if you're sure it’s "just a cold."


UUC monitors Public Health – Seattle & King County COVID-19 data dashboards and advisories, updating our health safety protocols accordingly. We also consult CDC About COVID-19 resources to inform our decisions. We additionally track Washington State Department of Public Health Resources and Recommendations for Business and Workers for guidance around COVID-19 safeguards for staff and visitors.


Please continue to check in at a kiosk or on the paper sign-in sheet when entering the building. This helps us better understand attendance on Sundays and for programs and meetings throughout the week. If you would like to be added to our email list for church-wide announcements, please include your email address and phone number on the paper sign-in sheet.
