Despite Macey's pain, she walked through our doors with her tail wagging. She was there for a euthanasia appointment.  With her heart full of guilt, her mom scheduled the appointment because Macey needed surgery that she couldn’t afford.

Macey was having trouble urinating, and after this went on for a little too long, her mom took her to the emergency vet. They did x-rays and discovered her bladder was full of stones. There were so many stones that Macey’s life was at risk if/when one of them traveled through the urethra, leading to a blockage and possible death from her bladder rupturing.

The surgery cost was more than four months of rent, and the family didn’t have money. Not wanting to see their sweet golden baby suffer, they called to have her ‘put to sleep.’

When we heard the reason for the appointment, we talked about this with the veterinarians, and they thought they could do the surgery. It took Dr. Cote and Dr. White hours to carefully remove enough stones to fill a pasta bowl. Macey was happy to see her mom and get home. She is now on a specialty diet to hopefully keep her bladder stones from returning.

We want to thank donors to the OC Tober Fund for saving Macey’s life. Through the generosity of the OC Tober Fund and its founder, Marilyn George, WCHS can go the extra mile for a needy pet.

Come Adopt Us!

At first glance, did you think we were all the same dog? We are three siblings: Sierra, Cyrus, and Sylvie. Aside from our looks, we have many things in common.

1st—Our barks all have a deep southern tone; after all, we are from Tennessee.

2nd - We are all available for adoption!

3rd—We want to go to Walk for Animals on October 12th with our new families. Sylvie thinks she will win the Longest Tongue Contest, Cyrus wants to try the PB Licking Contest, and Sierra is smart—she will win Musical Sit.

If you want to give one of us a great home, go to Dog Adoption .
