LCNP Welcomes New Executive Director
When I decided to step into this role, I knew I was joining a special team of people committed to building a better world now and for the future. We face a difficult age for this work as we confront nuclear powers' plans
to modernize and expand their arsenals, but that is
only reason to strengthen our resolve.

Your dedication and support is invaluable on this journey to create the nuclear weapons-free world we all deserve. I invite you to stand with us as we wield the
law against these weapons of unfathomable destruction, affirming the intersectionality of nuclear weapons policy with issues like climate change and racism. Your support allows us to empower the next generation of lawyers and activists.

We cannot succeed without the dedication of
peace and justice lovers like YOU!

In solidarity, Ariana Smith

Thank you for your essential support during LCNP's transition! We know these times continue to be challenging on multiple fronts, but LCNP President Emeritus Peter Weiss's words ring true:

"There is no alternative to hope."
International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons
LCNP led a virtual workshop in commemoration of the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons on 26 Sept. 2020 analyzing how law - in particular the rights to life and democracy - apply on the quest to a nuclear weapons-free world. Thank you to those who joined!

NRC's proposal to dispose of nuclear waste in landfills met with widespread public opposition

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission proposed an "interpretive rule" that would allow the disposal of what they deem "very low-level" nuclear waste (VLLW) in landfills and other unlicensed facilities.

LCNP opposes this proposal, which, if finalized, would contravene both domestic and international law.
