HURRICANE HELENE DEVASTATES MANY AREAS IN THE SOUTHEAST

THIS IS A COMMON SITE IN WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA AND EASTERN TENNEESSE.

Currently, ORH is evaluating circumstances surrounding the damage inflicted by Hurricane Helene. ORH partners are gathering information at the sites of the storm damage. Chris McAviney wrote the following.

"Operation Renewed Hope has begun the process of resource deployment and information gathering, but we need your help. We are working in three key areas to gather information, assist churches, and spread the gospel. 

1. Newport, Tennessee has been evacuated. CHURCH IS UNDER WATER. Major flooding has occurred. Dams and bridges are threatened.
2. Kevin McCoy is working in Perry Florida. Generators going in tomorrow. Reports pending return of internet service.
3. A.J. James is working on gathering information in North Carolina. Lake Lure and Asheville are directly impacted. The area surrounding Rosman, NC is flooding." 

Please pray for the safety of our partners as they survey the areas.

Jan Milton is in Greeneville, TN, for a missions' conference at Central Baptist Church, Pastor Brad Higgins. The church is within 30 minutes of the damage in Northeastern Tennessee. He has been able to keep information and media coming from this area.

ERWIN, TN HOSPITAL FLOODED. PATIENTS AND STAFF EVACUATED BY EMERGENCY RESCUE.

This is a video of Nolichucky dam as the river was rapidly rising and pouring over the dam. The TVA gave strong warnings that the dam could breach causing a catastrophic collapse. Thank God it did not. The loss would have been horrendous.

Daniel Jones PA, Director of Operation Renewed Hope, lives in Mountain City, TN. While conducting an ORH Medical Team in Guyana, South America, he received messages about the devastation of Hurricane Helene. The above pictures are the before and after pictures of a supporting church, Antioch Baptist Church. As you can see Pastor Mike Fenner and his congregation no longer have a church or fellowship hall in which to meet. Only the sign is left.
