Sunnyvale Animal Shelter Alert

The Town of Sunnyvale’s Animal Shelter is temporarily unable to accept or adopt dogs due to an outbreak of canine distemper. Town personnel are working with a veterinarian to treat and quarantine dogs and have made progress in preventing the spread of the virus.

The Town will update the community when regular operations resume.

Canine distemper is highly contagious and potentially fatal to dogs. It's caused by a virus that attacks the respiratory, gastrointestinal, and nervous systems. While there is no cure, vaccination is highly effective in preventing it. The illness can be treated by managing symptoms and providing supportive care.

The shelter’s cats are not affected by this outbreak and are still available for adoption.

The Town of Sunnyvale will notify the public when the shelter resumes normal operations.

Library Board Vacancies

The Town is currently seeking a dedicated and community-minded individual to fill one vacancy on the Library Board.

Town boards and commissions play an important role in supporting and enhancing our town’s services and quality of life.

If you are interested in contributing your time and talents to help guide the future of our library efforts, we encourage you to apply. Volunteering on a board is a great way to get involved, make a difference, and serve your community.

Sunnyvale Residents Urged to Take Survey

The Town of Sunnyvale is working to update the Town’s comprehensive plan and needs to hear from the community.

The Imagine Sunnyvale Comprehensive Plan will serve as the Town’s official guide for land use and development for the next 20 years. When completed, the Imagine Sunnyvale Comprehensive Plan will be the product of the community, with a vision and recommendations guided by valuable input from residents, business owners, community leaders, and other stakeholders.

Residents, business owners and operators, property owners, developers and community stakeholders are encouraged to complete the Online Community Survey The survey contains questions about important issues and opportunities facing the Town that the Comprehensive Plan planning process seeks to address. The survey will be available until Sept. 15. Your feedback is essential to creating a successful plan for our community!

Follow Summer Lawn Watering Schedules

Our region is behind normal rainfall totals so far this year. Summers in Texas are usually hot and dry, prompting the need to use water wisely.

As a reminder, lawn watering is not allowed in Sunnyvale between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Property owners should water on their designated day as outlined in the Town's Watering Zone Map.

Visit the Town of Sunnyvale's website for additional resources to help you save water and reduce your water bill.

Say Hi to Sasha!

Learn more about this pet and others on our Petfinder page

Sasha is a two-year-old female Domestic Medium Hair cat: Hi! I'm Sasha, a lively and curious soul who loves to explore every nook and cranny of my surroundings. Despite my bold adventures, I can be shy when meeting new friends. But give me a little time, and I'll show you my goofy and playful side. I enjoy my independence, yet I cherish sweet moments with human pals. If you're looking for a companion full of life and ready to share countless playful adventures, I'm your girl!

We would love for you to share this with others and bring awareness to the Sunnyvale Animal Shelter's animals and services. If your family is ready to add a member, we currently have many adoptable cats in our shelter looking for a new place to call home. Learn more by visiting our Petfinder page or calling (214) 862-4525.
