Director, Housing & Residence Life

Our Building Service Technicians do more than clean — they keep our halls safe and free of clutter. Your trash rooms, community style and open/public bathrooms, and public areas are kept in order, and service requests are available when needed.

Maintenance Requests

There are two ways to request maintenance that depend on the urgency of the issue.

  • Non-urgent request: submit a work order through Housing Self Service.
  • Urgent request: contact your hall staff member.

Mail, Packages, and More!

The Wilkerson Service Center provides support for students seeking Housing-specific services.

  • Pick up packages & mail.
  • Check out a temporary pass-key if you're locked out of your room.
  • Reserve spaces and vendor tables within Wilkerson Commons.
  • Ask for use of the indoor and outdoor fireplaces.
  • Check out a hammock for the Landing Zone hammock park.

Mail Service

Residence halls have daily mail pick-up and delivery (except Sundays and holidays).

  • You and your roommate(s) will share a mailbox.
  • The box opens up with your room key.

There is a shared kitchenette in each suite style or community style building. This is a place where students can bake cookies, warm up snacks, or cook a small meal. Ask your RA about checking out cooking supplies from your hall office!

  • Each hall has a microwave to easily heat up a quick snack or other food.
  • Residents must clean this space after use.
  • University Place residents will have a kitchen in each unit.

Clothes washing machines and dryers are provided in each residence hall.

  • Washing and drying is provided to Residence Hall students only.
  • Laundry services in the residence halls are coinless, meaning there is no need to bring quarters.
  • The cost to wash and dry clothes is included in the room and meal plan rate.
  • Do not over-stuff the machines. Leave enough room for clothes to move freely.
  • Do not leave your items unattended. UND is not responsible for lost or damaged clothing or other personal belongings.
  • Please set a timer on your phone so others can use the machine after you're done. Do not remove clothes that are not yours from the machines.
  • Please keep the laundry room clean by picking up after yourself.

Recommended Detergent

  • Front load washers require HE detergent.
  • Many students prefer to use detergent pods as they are lightweight, easy to store, and easy to carry to the laundry room.
  • Pods go into the drum with clothes, and not into detergent cups.

If something is not working in the laundry room, please call 701.777.3834 for assistance.

All residence halls use Apogee Resnet wireless internet. Apogee ResNet provides the following benefits to our residence hall community:

  • Network Speeds: Students will have speeds of 100mb download and 25mb upload with support for up to 10 simultaneous devices per student.
  • Personal Area Networks: A Personal Area Network (PAN) allows each of a user's devices (Alexa, Google Mini, wireless printers, and smart lightbulbs, to name a few) to be able to "see" and communicate directly with each other on the network for that "in home" experience.
  • Easy PSK (Pre-shared Key): Each student will have their own personal password to connect their devices to the network.
  • Single Sign-On: Students will use their UND credentials (login/password) to access the portal and manage their account.
  • Next Gen Wi-Fi: Students will have access to the latest wireless technology as equipment is upgraded to provide Wi-Fi 6 capabilities.

Residence Hall students have access to stream movies and tv shows on their computers and mobile phones when connected to UND Internet. This year there will be over 350 movies available to stream, with new movie releases weekly!

This free streaming service is provided by the student-led organization, Association of Residence Halls.

The primary responsibility for behavior rests with the individual community members. As a student, it is your responsibility to review, know, and follow the residence hall policies and the Code of Student Life
