Dear C WHITT Sauce Subscriber,

Don't you just love full-circle moments? Well, I do! At the tender age of 28, I was approved by the Gary Community School Board of Trustees to serve as Director of Public Relations. After holding a variety of communications positions over the past 25 years and opening my PR firm, here I am back at the Gary Schools!

On October 23, 2024, the GCSC School Board of Trustees approved by appointment as Chief of Public and Community Relations! God is so good and full-circle!

Much like when I served as a consultant to the district for the past 5 years, the role will be part-time, and I will continue to operate C WHITT PR. Only this time, I am part of the home team that raised me and made me! My official first day is TODAY!

Special thanks to everyone who has extended congratulations and well wishes! Kudos to my phenomenal team and especially Crystal O'Brien who has been and will continue to be instrumental in helping build the brand of the district. Let's gooooo! Watch the school board announcement here.

BUT WAIT! There's more! On Friday, October 25th, God saw fit for me to have the honor of taking my 93-year old father to early vote. While en route, he spoke of how he could not vote during the 1940s and 50s in Mississippi and that Gary was the first place that he could vote as a grown man! He is pictured above with the thumbs up after standing in line, voting and receiving a rousing round of applause from those waiting their turn. What a moment!

This history lesson is a reminder of why we need to exercise our right to vote on or before November 5th! Come on everyone, let's ROCK THE VOTE!

Lastly, congrats to my clients City Life Center on a successful inaugural gala, YWCA of NWI on a fabulous Circle of Friends Gala and IU Northwest on a successful Fall Open House. Love to Dr. Sharnita Rice on her official book launch of "Shattered Peach." She is on a mission to help victims of domestic violence and sexual assault identify their struggles and move forward to a successful, fulfilling life.

Shout out to Alfreida Robins and the team at Travail With Us on the grand opening of an Adult Day Center and the NWI Bid Whist Club on a remarkable tournament held right here in Gary! C WHITT clients achieve so much until I can hardly keep up!

So much has happened over the past two weeks with great things to come! I am excited to kick off a new month in worship and gratitude with gospel greats Donnie McClurkin tonight at the West Side Theater Guild, and Smokie Norful next week at St. Timothy Community Church!
