FY2021 Network Technical Assistance Grants Open
rolling through April 1, 2021
The intention of the Network Technical Assistance grant is to support organizational development activities beyond the scope of regular activities funded by Arts & Entertainment District Operating Support, County Arts Development, or Folklife Network grants.
Organizational development is defined as any effort that supports the stability, visibility, and effectiveness of an organization. This broad definition means that organizational development looks different based on each organization's unique needs. Contact relevant MSAC staff to discuss typical activities funded by Network Technical Assistance grants.
Funding: Grants are between $500 and $2,000 and are disbursed based on applicant requests. Grants may fund the entirety or a portion of an applicant's proposed organizational development activity.

Panelists
Panelist work is at the heart of MSACâs service. This work enlists members of Marylandâs arts sector to make the recommendations that MSAC uses in its grant making and in selecting artists for exhibition. Panelist service is a way to ensure that the needs of your community are represented on the state level.
Selected IDENTITY exhibition panelists serve for the artwork selection period, which includes preparation for and participation in a one-time panel of approximately 2.5 hours. To be eligible, applicants must be Maryland residents. It is recommended that panelists have access to a computer with an internet connection to participate as a panelist. If this is not possible, alternate methods for participation can be made available.
MSAC selects IDENTITY exhibition panelists in alignment with the rubric criteria located here. MSAC encourages panelist applications from historically-resilient communities, including but not limited to communities comprising Black, Indigenous, and people of color, as well as people with disabilities.
The IDENTITY exhibition panelists are paid $300 for their service, which includes the responsibilities listed below. MSAC staff provide support throughout the process. Please note that, currently, all panelist responsibilities are held virtually. All panelists:
- Attend a 90-minute panelist orientation, which includes a focus on uncovering implicit bias.
- Independently read and score applications by the established deadlines. Scores and comments are submitted online.
- Attend one panel meeting of approximately 2.5 hours.
MSAC is committed to providing the training and flexibility that ensures the regular addition of new panelists to its review panels. In addition to regular orientation sessions, panelists are encouraged to reach out to relevant program staff to ensure their experience is both professionally useful to them and in alignment with MSAC needs. In other words: we are here to curate a positive experience for you!
