Modified Setup for Your Safety & Convenience
|
|
The Mississippi Farmers Market is considered an "essential business" under Mississippi Executive Order 1463 (signed on March 24, 2020, by Governor Tate Reeves). For everyone's safety in consideration of social distancing, the Market will continue with its modified setup that it had for the first time last Saturday. This modified setup was successful in eliminating risk and increasing convenience for both vendors and customers.
“In order to help accommodate our vendors and shoppers practice social distancing and to create a more outdoor feel, we are modifying the setup of the Market this Saturday. Our vendors will be set up so that they are facing the outside of the building, which will allow our customers to shop around the perimeter of the building without having to come inside very far. Just as last week, our vendors are taking precautions and following CDC recommendations such as wearing gloves, pre-bagging much of the produce, and handling products for the shoppers,” said Commissioner of Agriculture & Commerce Andy Gipson.
Ensuring fresh food, supporting our local farmers and artists, offering quality customer service, and maintaining a safe, clean place to sell and shop are the Market's priorities.
We look forward to serving everyone this Saturday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

9 Ways to Give Your Kitchen Some TLC
|
|
Spring reminds us of freshness, nature's beauty, and growth. Many of us even adopt spring cleaning routines. This is the time we ritualistically deep-clean our homes, reorganize our possessions, and repair those broken things around the house. Well, one more great thing about spring is that it is a great time to give the kitchen some TLC (tender loving care). Get ready to raise those windows and let the sweet spring breeze in as you get started.
Check out these 9 simple (but thorough) ways to show the heart of the house some "love" this spring. It's a time-consuming project, but you'll be satisfied afterwards:
- Clean cabinets and drawers thoroughly. Degrease where necessary.
- Clean and disinfect knobs, handles, and counters. Pop off the knobs from the stove and let them soak in a bucket of warm, soapy water. Remove your stovetop grates (if you have a gas stove), and use a degreaser on the areas that need it. Be sure to use the appropriate cleaner for specialty surfaces, like marble, granite, etc.
- Scrub the sink, stove, oven, fridge, freezer, and microwave. Before cleaning the fridge, temporarily remove food. (In the process, toss out everything that's expired.) De-ice your freezer, if needed for a thorough cleaning. (If you do this, make sure to have a proper place to store your frozen foods until you're done.)
- Check your dishwasher filter for clogged food.
- Test tools; toss out anything that no longer works. Thoroughly clean the tools that do work.
- Dust and wipe baseboards, dust the ceiling and light fixtures, and sweep and mop floors.
- Make all glass shine again, especially those windows (the ones in the cabinets, too, if you have some).
- Replace bulbs.
- Take out the trash.
