Managed Security: 24x7 Security Monitoring

Among the many increasing requests from cyber insurance vendors and many other governmental agencies, there has been an increase in interest and adoption of managed cybersecurity products. Having someone manually monitor your security logs 24 hours a day, seven days a week is really an unreasonable cost for most small businesses - luckily there is a solution to this.

Many security vendors have realized this void and have begun to implement ways to fill it. That is particularly the case with the Managed Detection and Response (MDR) products from Sophos. The MDR product integrates with all other Sophos products including firewalls, endpoint security, email protection, etc. Essentially, MDR allows these to all work in tandem to send logs and reports off to a team of engineers.

These engineers are available in teams 24 hours a day, every day. It flags events by priorities and engineers can look through the more concerning events first. The plan is always to catch any breaches before they occur and by having someone review logs can help to make changes that harden defenses in areas that may be targeted. Of course, it also helps that, if a breach were to occur, there could is a team watching that could notice and begin to isolate and remediate before any breach in the past was even noticed by a user to contact support.

If MDR (or any other Sophos offering) is something you'd like to discuss implementing for you organization, whether it be to increase your own security, due to a cyber insurance renewal requests, or some governmental request or suggestion, please feel free to reach out to our offices.
