June 2025
Letter from Your Board Chairs
Dear Life Science Cares Community,
As summer kicks off, Life Science Cares New York is packed with activities! Scroll down the newsletter to see what's happening and how to get involved.
We’re excited to share just a few highlights from the past few months!
We launched Project Onramp in New York at General Atlantic with more than 25 students placed in life science internships across our network of partner companies. These talented students, many of whom are the first in their families to attend college, are gaining invaluable hands-on experience this summer.
We hosted our second annual Women in Life Sciences + Girls in STEM event at Roivant, bringing together professionals and students for an evening of mocktails, networking, and a few rounds of human bingo! The energy in the room was incredible, and we welcomed even more participants this year.
Last week, we brought together more than 100 professionals from across the LSC network for our Board of Advisors Spring Fling, featuring an engaging conversation with Josh Wolfe from Lux Capital and Andy Serwer from Barron's.
In addition, we recently convened with our nonprofit partners to deepen our understanding of their greatest needs. You’ll find a chart below summarizing how we—as a collective life science community—can best support their work.
A huge thank you to our Board of Advisors and Corporate Partners whose continued support powers everything we do. Every contribution allows us to invest more deeply in the nonprofits and communities working on economic and health equity.
Looking forward to seeing you soon!
Jen Fox and Jim Reddoch

Nonprofit Partner Convening & Breakfast Highlights
Life Science Cares has been working hard these last few months to support our nonprofit partners during these turbulent times. The impact these organizations create is vital to driving progress and uplifting those in need, and your involvement helps them advance their missions, reach more individuals, and build stronger, more resilient communities.
On April 1st, we convened leaders from the life sciences and nonprofit sectors for a powerful morning of conversation and connection—sparking new ideas and collaborations to break down barriers and expand opportunity for under-resourced communities. We listened closely, learning more about the resource gaps our nonprofit partners face and sought to identify new ways the life sciences community can help bridge them.
| Reach out if you'd like to learn more about the convening or if you're interested in being involved in the next one. | |

COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT
Thank you to the incredible Cantor Fitzgerald Healthcare and Biotechnology Equity Research Team — including Josh Schimmer, M.D. and Eric Schmidt, Ph.D. — for bringing your team energy, generosity and artistic talent to a fun-filled school carnival hosted by Henry Street Settlement, alongside Deanna Sorge and Wenda You, in partnership with United Neighborhood Middle School (UNMS) and M.S. 184 Shuang Wen!
Henry Street Settlement, a cornerstone of the Lower East Side since 1893, delivers vital social services, arts programs, and health care that empower youth, strengthen families, and uplift the community.
At UNMS, Henry Street’s Middle School Success Program plays a crucial role in helping students and families navigate NYC’s complex high school admissions process. Through a standout Peer Leadership model, 8th graders mentor younger students—while on-site mental health services ensure students have the support they need to succeed.
At M.S. 184 Shuang Wen, Henry Street leads a dynamic afterschool program aligned with the school’s Mandarin-English dual-language curriculum. With enrichment activities focused on academic growth, creativity, and emotional development, the program provides a safe and welcoming space for students to thrive.
The carnival was a celebration marking the end of a challenging school year. One student captured the spirit of the day perfectly:
“I’m really excited for the school carnival! Henry Street does a lot for us compared to other programs we’ve been in. It’s a fun way to celebrate with my friends, enjoy the games, and make great memories. This also helps us relax after a long school year of SHSAT tests, state tests, and high school preparation.”
Life Science Cares is all about activating the life sciences community to use their time, talent, and resources to help build stronger communities. As a corporate partner, your company benefits from our team handling everything—from start to finish—for a one-day event or ongoing projects with one of our nonprofit partners. Our nonprofits need us more than ever, so reach out and join us!
