Sound archivist preserves KGOU's history for public media archive
KGOU welcomes Emily Keenan, a graduate student in library science at OU, who is working through a fellowship to digitize and catalog our archives currently stored on older technologies like one-quarter inch tape. The project is in collaboration with the American Archive of Public Broadcasting, the Library of Congress and WGBH, seeking to digitize and preserve older public radio recordings even as quickly deteriorating tapes are in danger of being lost to the ravages of time.

KGOU Readers Club: A listener selection
We asked listeners what book best represented Oklahoma, and received so many great suggestions! Listener Nathan Poppe nominated Everything Sad Is Untrue by Daniel Nayeri, an autobiographical novel about a young Iranian refugee who winds up in unfamiliar territory in Edmond, Oklahoma. The book has won multiple awards, including NPR's Book of the Year for 2020. KGOU Managing Editor Logan Layden hopes to discuss the book with you on the next Readers Club special, Monday, Sept. 26 at 1 p.m.

Future episodes will feature interviews and concerts with Immanuel Wilkins, Isaiah J. Thompson, Sean Mason, and Sarah Hanahan. Tune in Thursdays at 9 p.m.

relaxed man leaning on display shelves containing dozens of coffee mugs
Former NPR CEO Jarl Mohn, looking very much retired, with his mug collection. Last year he donated to every NPR Member station, including KGOU, and asked for a mug as his thank-you gift. He had to have a display shelf built to show off all 210 of them! Can you spot the KGOU 50th anniversary mug? (Hint: it's toward the right)
