Stewardship Pledge Campaign Under Way

What you Need to Know:

The Welcome, Serve, Grow pledge drive was officially kicked off last Sunday, thank you to everybody who picked up their packets at the Fall Festival. The remaining packets will be sent through the mail.

Please return your completed pledges one of three ways

  • Drop them off in the stewardship pledge box located by the welcome desk when you enter church,
  • Return by mail using the return envelope included in your pledge packet, or
  • Reach out to Terry Crall for online pledging instructions.

The pledge drive this year runs until 10/12. We kindly ask for your pledges to be returned by that date. We will still accept pledges for several weeks, and will have a final call for pledges at the end of the month. It is important for the budget and finance committee to have the pledge information before they finalize next year's budget.

We will be celebrating the end of the pledge drive with a baked potato luncheon after service on 10/12, see you there!

Fine Arts Festival

Volunteers Needed!

Sunday evening, October 12, we begin the set-up for the Art Festival! It takes many people to get the display panels up, arrange the tables, chairs and more to be ready for the artists to bring in their artwork on Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday the display team is busy transforming the church into an art gallery. All needs to be ready for our Show to open at noon on Friday, October 17.

There are many ways that you can sign up to help. Our volunteer sign up page is linked with the QR code here or you can click on it to be directed to the sign up page.

We will have a display Sunday at the Fall Festival with signup sheets for all of the areas where you can help. Stop by our table and we will answer any questions you may have. Not sure where you want to help? Take an orange flyer that lists all of the areas.

The Art Festival website: www.salemwestpresartfest.com also has a link to the sign-up page. The website includes all of the Festival happenings and features a different artist each day. Be to check it out!

We thank you for your help!

Congregational Vitality Committee

The Congregational Vitality Committee would like to thank Westminster for their

generous contributions to the annual School Supply Drive. The supplies were

distributed to the following schools: Lee Elementary, McKinley Elementary, Miller

Elementary, Faye Wright Elementary, Leslie Middle School, and South Salem High

School.

Thank you to all the blood donors and volunteers that showed their support for

the September 22nd Blood Drive. The Red Cross is grateful for our partnership in

saving lives. It was an enormous success thanks to the 34 presenting donors. We

met their collection goal of 100%. The next scheduled blood drive at Westminster

is December 15th.

Photo Directory Update:

Because so few people have sent in photos or updates to their contact

information, we are postponing printing copies or making the directory available

on the website. The Selfie Spot will continue to be made available in Boulder Hall

for the coming month, and a member of the CVC will be there in person during

coffee hour to assist people in getting a photo taken or in updating or adding their

information. Our goal is to have the updated directory ready by the end of

October.

Deacons

Please Pray for David Nelson; he has Stage 4 terminal cancer.

Night Out

Before Worship Bible Study

The before worship Bible Study will begin on Sunday, October 5th at 9:00 - 9:45 a.m. We will be studying the Gospel according to Mark. I will be teaching it. Participants should bring a Bible with them to class. The sanctuary and Russel Hall have plenty of Bibles to borrow for classes.

Although this is an "adult" Bible Study, youth are welcome to join. Children are invited to bring coloring books or small toys when or if they accompany an adult. No homework!

Thanks,

Rosalyn

Hi all you congregants,

Advent Craft is coming up soon. We are looking to help you clean out all the old costume jewelry and handkerchiefs and doilies. You will not get it back unless you come on November 23rd and make a craft with it. Please look through your old favorites and then donate them to the Advent Craft. you will be amazed on what we're planning. please find the box in the Narthex.

Pamela Schmidling.

Sunday School sign-ups are open for the rest of the year, starting with openings THIS SUNDAY!  Please go online to SignUpGenius and sign up for more than just the upcoming Sunday or two so that we don't have to send new requests every week. If you are willing to help once a month, for instance, choose all of your October, November, and December Sundays now.

There are two types of slots each week:

  • The Lead Teacher is responsible for providing a lesson or other planned activity for the kids. This could include a Bible story, game, music, craft, cooking, science, or whatever other activities you are able to offer.
  • We are in the process of hiring a Sunday School Lead Teacher who will offer lessons every Sunday. If we are successful, all we will need for the remainder of the fall is Volunteer Support. In that case, anyone signed up as Lead Teacher will perform the role of Volunteer Support as well. Those who know our processes and our kids will be invaluable help for a new person coming in to teach, so those of you who are experienced teachers, please sign up for as many Lead Teacher slots as you are available.
  • Volunteer Support people do not need to plan or lead activities unless they choose to coordinate with the Lead Teacher. They are there to support the Lead Teacher and/or just keep kids safe during the service. If no Lead Teacher signs up, the Volunteer Supports will only be responsible for childcare while the kids play.  We have also been informed that we may have a baby attending some upcoming Sundays, which would need to be cared for by one of the Volunteer Support people while the Lead Teacher and other volunteer focuses on the older children. For this reason, we need at least two Volunteer Support people each week even when a Lead Teacher is available.
