College of Our Lady of the Elms received a generous contribution from Francis and Marian Kirley to rename the college's School of Continuing Education as the Sister Kathleen Kirley '66 School of Continuing Education.
Sr. Kathleen was director of Continuing Education at Elms College from 1977 to 1990 and served as the dean of Continuing Education and Graduate Studies from 1990 to 1998.
Francis Kirley, a former member of the Elms College Board of Trustees and last year's commencement keynote speaker, is a cousin of Kathleen Kirley, SSJ. He is also the founder, President & CEO of Nexion Health, a healthcare organization with 56 skilled nursing and assisted living facilities in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas.
The Sister Kathleen Kirley '66 School of Continuing Education provides flexible academic options for students returning to college to complete their degree; students can take classes online, on-site at Elms, or at one of the college's convenient off-campus locations.

The Dolores Donlin Noonan '39 Experiential Learning Program Experiential Learning Showcase
On Friday, April 28, the campus celebrated the wonderful accomplishments of our talented students, supported by our exceptional faculty and staff, through poster sessions, presentations, simulations, video narratives, a student art exhibit, a poetry reading, and much more! The day showcased applied learning in action through research, internships, mission trips, community service, study abroad, and faculty-led community-engaged learning in courses.
The Experiential Learning Showcase was made possible through the generous contribution of Regina and Joseph Hitchery to support the learning in action endeavors of Elms' students. In recognition of this generosity, the Elms Experiential Learning program is named in honor of Dolores Donlin Noonan '39, an alumna of Elms College and mother of Trustee Regina Noonan Hitchery '71 and Martha Noonan Murtaugh '68, MAT '91, and sister of Clare Donlin Mannix '47.
President Dr. Dumay was joined by Regina Hitchery '71 as they kicked off the event and unveiled the plaque making official the naming of the Dolores Donlin Noonan '39 Experiential Learning Program.

Announcing New BIPOC Alumni Affinity Group
It is wonderful to see that, with each passing year, our student and alumni populations continue to grow more diverse. Thus the College's ability to engage all members of the alumni population becomes increasingly critical.
In that regard, the Alumni Association is excited to launch our new alumni affinity group that will allow BIPOC alumni to network with and spend time with each other, meet with guest speakers and lecturers, and promote activities of mutual interest. We thank all alumni for continuing to support and push the College and each other to unimaginable heights. Thank you for staying connected with the Elms and each other.

We're excited to announce that the next book the Elms College Book Club will read is The Last Green Valley by Mark Sullivan. In our free, asynchronous, online discussion platform, book club members will encounter the importance of hope and perseverance in the face of hardship as they journey with the Martel family, who finds themselves caught between the Russian and German armies in Eastern Europe during World War II.
Bookreporter praises Sullivan for telling “very real, very human stories set during the most intense period in recent world history”. Kristin Hannah, author of The Four Winds calls it “a compelling and inspiring story of heroism and courage in the dark days at the end of World War II.”
In addition to our book club discussions, Mark Sullivan will be joining us for an Author Talk on Wednesday, July 19th, to share his process in writing the book and to respond to members' questions. You definitely don't want to miss it!
