Equipment & Support
Moving old equipment out 2.0.
What a busy quarter it has been for the Equipment and Support team! We have welcomed Brian McGuire and Roger Adkins as our new field technicians, as well as Drew Mincey, our new shop helper.
During the past few months, our shop and field teams have worked hard to get another 20 old units through the shop and ready for sale. It has been a challenging process, but the team has pulled together and made it all work out.
The summer months mean for a busy time out in the field and our team will continue to work hard to assist with the field crews' needs. This will enable us to move repairs in and out of the shop and allow us to keep equipment readily available in the field.
Many thanks to the entire team! We look forward to keeping up the great work and achieving our goals this next quarter.
Our official Shop Grand Opening will take place on Friday, June 24th, to commemorate our accomplishments. We're going to celebrate with food, beer, and our annual cornhole tournament.
If you haven't yet, please email Linda to let us you're coming this Friday!
We can't wait for you all to come out and celebrate this huge accomplishment with the entire Horsepower family and we look forward to seeing you all there!

Why
I was able to hang out with 18,000 of my closest colleagues at a national HR Conference this week and I was inspired. At every turn, I thought of you. I was reminded of why I do what I do every day. It’s a good thing to be reminded of the “why” behind the things we do. It is the “why” more than the “what” that makes us who we are. It determines the quality of our work, our relationships, and even our happiness.
Have you ever thought about why you do what you do? We all work to provide for our families and personal needs of course, but I mean thinking beyond that. Just as every company has a mission statement, each of us can have a personal mission statement. A framework for the kind of person we want to be and the impact we want to make on those around us. I invite you to ask yourself a few questions:
- What two or three people have had the biggest positive impact on my life?
- What is it about them that I admire and what created that impact?
- In what ways have I adopted these characteristics into my own life?
- What impact do I have or want to have in the lives of those with whom I interact with every day?
Write these answers down. From there, you can begin to build your own mission statement, your purpose for who and how you want to be in this world- Your “why." When we operate from our “why” it gives everything we do purpose. We work with passion, pride, and joy.
This week, I thought of you at every turn because YOU are my “why," and I want to thank you for that!

June is Trench Safety Month.
Trenching comes with many risks, yet it remains an essential part of any construction project. A trench inspection should be performed by the jobsite's competent person prior to the start of work of every day and as needed during the rest of the day.
We would like to stress the importance of the 10 Commandments of Trenching, so you all can stay safe this summer season!
- A competent person must inspect the trench prior to the start of work and prior to employee entrance.
- Proper sloping or trench protection must exist at 5 feet or deeper.
- Soils must be at least 2 feet from the edge of a trench.
- Ladders or ramps are required when trenches are 4 feet or more in depth.
- 25 feet is the maximum distance a person can be from a ladder or ramp.
- Ladders must be tied off.
- All trench shields must at least extend to ground surface.
- A trench shield must be within 2 feet of the bottom of the trench.
- Class B soils must be sloped 1:1.
- Class C soils must be sloped 1.5:1.
It all comes down to this – perform effective, proactive safety measures to prevent injuries in and around trenches. Together we can make this summer our safest summer yet. Stay alert during daily examinations and always remember, if you see something, say something!
