La Toya Drapeau is the director of R’Club Child Care in Pinellas County. She has been a FLAEYC member for 7 years, joining on May 26, 2015.
Her favorite part of being in the Early Childhood field is establishing lasting relationships with her students and earning their trust. She also enjoys nurturing a sense of independence in children with different abilities. La Toya feels the most pressing issue facing the ECE field today is a lack of resources in classroom materials, teachers’ lack of experience working with children with different abilities and teachers mental health awareness.
La Toya joined FLAEYC to bring awareness to her staff, center and community regarding the available resources to impact childhood development, community engagement and collaboration among educators to address all children's educational needs.
Leo the Late Bloomer by Robert Kraus is La Toya’s favorite book because it illustrates how you only need one person to believe in you for you to bloom. “If a teacher plants one seed in a child’s life and believes that child can grow then that child will bloom.”
La Toya is a mother, a wife and a believer that all things are possible.
