When AIMA launched in 1990, hedge funds were a burgeoning $40bn industry. Today, hedge funds measure $3 trillion in AUM and alternatives broadly total nearly $9 trillion on behalf of over 11,000 institutional investors around the globe.
The industry has weathered a number of challenges in the past three decades, each crisis leaving its imprint on alternatives’ future growth. The impact of the COVID-19 crisis is still reverberating around the world, yet early data indicates alternatives are playing an even greater role in investor portfolios going forward.
AIMA will be marking our 30th anniversary with a virtual event that helps shape the next chapter of our industry.
