We want your input on our first public draft of our Transportation and Mobility Master Plan. The last day to comment is today, November 5, 2021.

Fall Leaf Composting Drop Off
8 a.m.-12 p.m., November 6 & 13, Thornton Infrastructure Maintenance Center, 12450 Washington St.
Thornton residents may drop off bagged leaves for composting. Place leaves in fully compostable BPI certified bags or paper bags. Be prepared to open any other types of bags on site. Proof of residency required and other restrictions apply. Please use the north entrance from 126th Avenue east of Washington Street.

There is also Fall Leaf Composting Drop off available during the week to Thornton residents only. The compost bin is accessible Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Thornton Infrastructure Maintenance Center. Leaves must be in paper sacks or BPI fully compostable bags. All other bags must be opened on site. Please also use the north entrance from 126th Avenue east of Washington Street.

Niver Open Space Improvements Virtual Public Meeting

Join us for an interactive virtual presentation about the Niver Open Space Improvements Master Plan. Meeting participants will have the opportunity to provide comments and ask questions during the presentation.

The Master Plan is based on feedback received from the May 5 public meeting and from Thornton staff, as well as detailed study of the site, budget feasibility and a commitment to preserving open space. Once completed, you can find a copy of this Master Plan at gocot.net/projects.

Book of Life - El Dia De Los Muertos - Day of the Dead
Don't Miss Our Movie Festival Double Feature

You're invited to attend this free double-feature film night celebrating the Day of the Dead/el Dia del Los Muertos!

This free film festival will feature:
  • 6-7:30 p.m. - The Book of Life is a 2014 animated musical fantasy movie about three friends whose lives are influenced by Day of the Dead and other cultural traditions of Mexico and Latin America. Appropriate for ages 7 and up.

  • 8-9:30 p.m. - Macario is a 1960 Mexican supernatural drama film that was the first Mexican film to be nominated for an Academy Award. It is the story of a poor indigenous woodcutter in Colonial Mexico on the eve of the Day of the Dead. Appropriate for ages 13 and up.

COVID Vaccination
Thornton Fire Offering Free COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics and COVID Vaccine Boosters
Thornton Fire Department is offering COVID-19 vaccination clinics on various days from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Fire Station 5, 14051 Colorado Blvd. Pfizer and Moderna vaccinations will be available at these clinics.

COVID Vaccine boosters will also be available at some of the clinic dates for those that meet the CDC recommendations and Special Kids Clinics have been added for ages 5-11 on certain days.
