The Alpena CRTC is a year-round training facility and provides support, facilities, instruction and airspace to DoD, DHS, and others. Alpena is one of four Combat Readiness Training Centers in the United States and is the second organization in the ANG to be certified as a Joint National Training Center helping the Michigan ANG host a variety of training exercises including Northern Strike, Mobility Guardian, and Winter Strike training tens of thousands of airmen, soldiers, marines, seamen, guardians, and coalition partners.

In the USAF Museum in Dayton are 80 silver goblets commemorating the 80 men who flew the Doolittle Raid against Japan in April 1942. At their annual reunion every year the surviving Raiders raised a toast to their fallen comrades. In 2019, 103-year-old Jimmy Cole, Doolittle's co-pilot, passed away and was the last surviving from this group of daring heroes who changed history.

We want to keep that legacy alive and reflect on and discuss the Doolittle Raid and raise a virtual toast in remembrance to our greatest generation & their indelible imprint on airpower history.

Mark A. Ilgen, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist, a professor of psychiatry, and an investigator with at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System.

His topic of discussion is suicides in our veteran population and what is being done to prevent it.

According to the VA, suicide prevention among veterans is their top clinical priority.

Suicide has no single cause and no one approach can end it—but prevention is possible, especially when Veterans find support before a crisis happens.

Join us to learn about caring for our veterans.
