We’re at midterms. Not sure how we got here so fast, but here we are!

Midterm is an odd time. To students, it seems like they still have a long way to go. The novelty of the fall start is over. They are in the thick of course content and assignments, and they’ve been at it for seven solid weeks, so energy can be a little harder to come by. We’ve also been asking your students to maintain Covid-safety protocols—“Stay physically distanced, keep those face coverings on, and think hard about where you are, who you’re with, and what you’re doing to keep each other healthy and our campus open.”
It’s important that your students stay focused on wellbeing and success, so now is the perfect time for us to work with you, parents and families, to support and encourage them.
Did you know that, besides tackling midterm exams and projects, this is also the time when your students need to be thinking ahead to the next step in their academic journeys and contacting student services to help them stay on track? We have great resources to help them do this!
How is your student managing stress and staying emotionally healthy as we move (rapidly!) toward finals? Check out our student health services, emotional and mental health resources, and physical wellness services on our Health at ISU web page.
What classes should your student take next? Spring registration is just around the corner. Does your student need some help balancing their schedule or figuring out the best options for the spring semester? Our advisors know their stuff, and students can book their appointments online.
We can help with all of this and more! If you have questions, we have answers. Reach out to us by email at studentaffairs@isu.edu or call the Student Affairs office at (208) 282-2794.
Roars Truly,
Lyn Redington, Vice President of Student Affairs & Enrollment Management
Craig Chatriand, Assistant Vice President & Dean of Students

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) has opened for school year 2021-2022.
For the 2021-2022 academic year, students can apply between October 1, 2020, and June 30, 2022. However, there are a few federal student aid programs that have limited funds, so students should apply as soon as possible. The suggested early processing date for these funds is March 1, 2021. Students must complete the FAFSA every year they are in school to be eligible for federal student aid.
