Excite. Elevate. Envision.

We are on the precipice of something profound.

If you’ve tuned into the U.S. news lately, you may have noticed some shifts in the political arena.

Oh, this isn’t about to be an uncomfortable political debate the likes of which you haven’t seen since that awkward family Thanksgiving dinner in 2017. Hard no. But…

Let’s just take in the history-making MOMENT. It’s not entirely the first time we’ve been here, but there are some female “firsts” being made. Regardless of where your opinion is on the matter, this moment that you’re living in right now will be a pivotal moment in history. Decades from now, you will reflect on your memories of 2024, & say, “I was there when that happened.” Some of you will look upon it fondly; some of you will look upon it… less fondly. That’s OK.

The point is, women have always had the ability to be completely, gloriously, & courageously profound. THAT is not a first. As you take in everything about this moment, be sure to appreciate some of the many women who shaped all the moments before these.

And if you find yourself struggling for safe conversation topics at this year’s family Thanksgiving (it will be after THAT date in November, after all), dazzle your family with your knowledge of some other profound women in history.

We officially have a new PE!

Twice is always nice! Former chapter president & treasurer (more on that in a second), Marjorie Yoshida, has agreed to take on the presidency again next year. This makes her our official President Elect for the remainder of this year. Donna Munnik has agreed to step in & act as Interim Treasurer, taking on the role that Marjorie is vacating this year.

THANK YOU, LADIES, FOR ALL THAT YOU DO TO KEEP THE CHAPTER RUNNING!

Date: May 7, 2024 - Firm Recognition and Literacy Awards

The Wisconsin Club

The May 2024 membership meeting was held at the elegant Wisconsin Club in downtown Milwaukee. It was our Firm Recognition Night & Literacy Awards Ceremony, and we were thrilled to have some of our executives join us for the evening. Following a delicious dinner, we heard from Tracy Williams, President and CEO of YMCA SE Wisconsin and Cristina Crogan, VP of Development and Communication with Next Door Foundation. Literacy Awards went to our partners at both organizations. Thanks to generous donations by member firms, we rounded out the evening with a silent auction to benefit our scholarship fund.

Date: June 4, 2024 - ASIST Scholarship Night

Meyer's Family Restaurant

The June meeting was held at Meyer's Family Restaurant where we dined family style as we got to know our scholarship recipients. Corry Joe Biddle, Vice President of Community Affairs at MMAC was our guest speaker and spoke from the heart about her own experiences and the importance of education. Two of our scholarship recipients each shared their life journey. A very emotional evening for all involved.

Names from left to right are as follows: Zachary Staszewski (ASIST judge, Hunger Task Force); Mary Caye Smith (ASIST Chair & EWI Philanthropy Director, Firefly Real Estate); Corry Joe Biddle (Speaker, VP of Community Affairs, MMAC); Shantalea Gray (1st Place ASIST Winner); & Angelina Correa-Biddle (2nd Place ASIST Winner).

(NOTE: Our third place ASIST winner could not be there. Her name is Valerie Brown.)

MORE EXCITING NEWS! Our 1st place winner, Shantalea Gray, is ALSO the 2nd place winner of EWI Corporate's ASIST Scholarship. We are beyond proud!

Date: July 2, 2024

Emergency Scam Alert

Unfortunately, summertime can bring severe weather and scammers take advantage! In the aftermath of a natural disaster such as a tornado or hurricane, scammers impersonate authorities or create fake charities to exploit our desire to help. These scams leverage the urgency and emotional weight of events to bypass rational scrutiny and provoke immediate action. Scammers may also spread misinformation about fake emergencies. Always verify charities before donating.
