News & Events

I Spy St. James! Can you? Every Sunday, our parish's patron, St. James, will be on the move to a new location in the parish hall. As the patron of walkers and pilgrims, he's decided to join us on our own pilgrimage to Stillwell Hall for a little fun. Kids and youth, be on the lookout and if you locate him, make sure you tell one of the clergy so they can let you choose a sticker or piece of candy at the altar. If you spy St. James, make sure not to move him so others can find him too!

Get texts from St. James! We're trying a new communication tool called Remind. Receive brief texts for important events and updates from St. James. Simply use your cell phone to text the code "@f368b89" to the number 81010. You should receive no more than 1 text a week.

Dedicate Sunday's Flowers in Thanksgiving or in Memory of Someone Special.

Sponsoring a flower dedication for our Sunday services is a meaningful way to honor, give thanks, or remember someone important to you. Contact a member of the Flower Guild for more information or click the button below to reserve your Sunday.

Worship & Adult Formation

This summer, all worship will be in the Parish Hall. Our weekend services will all take place on Sundays, at 8 a.m. (Rite I), 10 a.m. (Rite II with Choir), and 5 p.m. The Sunday 5 p.m. Eucharist will be an opportunity to experience new and creative liturgies. Click the button below to learn more about our Sunday Summer Evening liturgical series.

Sunday Summer Evening Schedule at St. James

Take a break from the busyness of the summer and join us for a quieter, simpler candlelit Eucharist with lots of space for silence, a short reflection rather than a homily, and leave with a sense of calm.

Do you want to serve in worship? St. James needs additional people to read and serve chalice, particularly at the early and late services on Sunday. You must be confirmed to serve chalice. Anyone can read. Please contact David and he will get you in the rotation.

Does someone you know need communion? Many of our parishioners experience seasons of life where in-person attendance is difficult or impossible. During those times, our Lay Eucharistic Visitors are available to bring communion to them once a month or more, depending on the need. Let David+ or Ellen Fields, who leads this ministry, know if you think one of our homebound or sick members needs visiting.

There will be no Sunday Adult Formation during the summer months and Nave repair.

The Wednesday Healing Eucharist at noon and Monday Morning Prayer at 8:30 will continue during the Nave project in the Parish Hall.

Please be sure to wear your name tag! Wearing your name tag helps us get to know each other, especially newcomers, better. If you have lost your name tag, you can request a new one on the clipboard in the reception area.

JOIN THE SUMMER CHOIR AT ST. JAMES

Summer is here and the St. James Choir sings for Sunday morning services through July 23. If you are musically inclined and enjoy singing, please consider joining us for a "no-commitment" opportunity to join this vital ministry. Summer choir goes through Sunday, July 23. Meet at 9:15 a.m. in the choir room for a thirty-minute rehearsal of the service music and anthems, then sing the 10 a.m. service with us. We will provide music and vestments! For additional information, contact Director of Music Brad Gee at 694-6925 or email Brad.

Gluten-free wafers are available during communion for those with celiac disease or medical issues. You may request this gluten-free option at communion from the priest.

Thank you to all who came to experience the Hopewood Garden on June 23 and 24. Gardening to us is fundamentally an act of hope. As Sue Stuart-Smith, writer of The Well Gardened Mind teaches us, the garden has always been a place of peace and perseverance, of nature and reward. Gardening can help transform people’s lives. Gardening captures the imagination. In the spirit of imagination, we started a demonstration kitchen garden 10 years ago at Hopewood. Many children and adults have enjoyed the bounty of this garden. — Victoria and Dennis Flanagan

Yoga classes will take a break in July but will resume on Wednesday, Aug. 9.

Justice & Mercy

Bless-shoe for your generous donations to the Church of the Advocate's Sole-Mates closet! The COA Advisory Board was amazed at the number of shoes donated by St. James. Your gift to the Sole-Mates closet ensures that COA parishioners will be able to comfortably put many more miles on their feet.

The Thursday Thrift Shop is in need of donations. We're looking for housewares, linens, furniture, home decor items, books, and toys. We also need men's, women's, and children's clothing, and accessories such as shoes, jewelry, and purses. Donations and consignments can be dropped off on Monday and Tuesday between 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Thank you for your support.

Children & Family Ministry

Buy a sticker of Emoji Christoph to support Christoph! Earlier this year, a talented member of our youth group, Juliette Broenner, drew an adorable image of Christoph which is now available to purchase as a sticker. Whether it's on a laptop, water bottle, or notebook, this sticker can remind you to keep Christoph and his family in your prayers during his illness. The stickers are 3" x 3", made out of durable vinyl, and $5 each.

To purchase one, put $5 in the box by his office and take a sticker. Proceeds will go to the Herpel family.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Sunday School is offered every Sunday at 10 a.m. in the Atrium by the Trinity Room for ages 2 through 5th grade. Children will return during the Peace in church.

Tired of Emails? Youth and Parents Can Stay Connected with St. James via text. Join our Remind account by texting @2fhfhb2 to 81010. We will post upcoming events, photos, and reminders here and all will go directly to your phone.
