GGUSD Remembers & Honors Tina Gurney

GGUSD is deeply saddened by the passing of Tina Gurney, a beloved educator and steadfast advocate for students and teachers.

Tina taught at Northcutt Elementary School from 1990 to 2012 and served as president of the Garden Grove Education Association from 2012 to 2018. She later taught at Allen Elementary School from 2018 until retiring in 2020. She continued her advocacy for students as a member of the Westminster School District Board of Education.

Tina’s love of education was evident in all she did. As GGEA president, she dedicated herself to advocating for teachers and supporting those who make a difference in students’ lives every day. In the classroom, she made students feel welcome, cared for and ready to learn. Her classroom was filled with lively learning, laughter and encouragement. She believed in every student’s potential and championed their success. A mentor to many, Tina was a vibrant force for good, bringing joy, positivity, kindness and compassion to everyone she knew.

Tina leaves a lasting legacy in GGUSD. The care she showed and the difference she made in the lives of countless students, families and colleagues will continue to be felt throughout our community. We will remember her with deep affection and gratitude.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Tina’s family including her husband Bill, friends and all who are mourning her loss. She will be deeply missed.
