The NC Technology Association (NC TECH) has unveiled its latest update on the state's IT job landscape through its new, comprehensive IT Job Trends Dashboard. This resource provides a detailed breakdown of IT positions across North Carolina, highlighting key insights such as top postings by Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), job titles, required skills and certifications, experience levels, wage trends, and top hiring companies.
This monthly Tech Talent Trends Alert offers a snapshot of the previous month's data, and presents both a rolling thirteen-month chart and a five-year trend chart to illustrate the evolution of IT job postings in North Carolina.
"IT job postings for May remained relatively flat compared to the past several months, both in North Carolina and the United States," stated Andrea Fleming, Director of Talent + Workforce Development for NC TECH. "In North Carolina, these postings are distributed across a diverse range of companies, with banks and financial institutions leading the way, followed by tech firms, universities, and consultants."
"Friday’s Bureau of Labor Statistics monthly Employment Situation Update highlighted overall job growth across the US, with the addition of 272,000 positions in May. Sectors leading this upward trend included healthcare, government, and leisure and hospitality. However, IT positions saw only a slight increase," Fleming continued. "It's also noteworthy that the unemployment rate remains low at 4% for the US and even lower at 3.5% for North Carolina. The tech unemployment rate (US) is a still lower 2.5%."
